Sometimes it DOES take a Rocket Scientist!! (true story)

 

Scientists at Rolls Royce built a gun specifically to launch dead chickens at the windsheilds of airliners, and military jets all travelling at maximum velocity.

 

The idea is to simulate the frequent incidents of collisions with airbourne fowl to test the strength of the windshields.

 

American engineers heard about the gun and were eager to test it on the windshields of their new high speed trains. Arrangements were made, and a gun was sent to the American engineers.

 

When the gun was fired, the engineers stood shocked as the chicken hurled out of the barrel, crashed into the shatterproof shield, smashed it to smithereens, blasted through the control console, snapped the engineer's back-rest in two and embedded itself in the back wall of the cabin, like an arrow shot from a bow.

 

The horrified Yanks sent Rolls Royce the disastrous results of the experiment, along with the designs of the windshield and begged the British scientists for suggestions...

 

Rolls Royce responded with a one-line memo:

 

 

 

 

"Defrost the chicken".

And how unrealistic - America asking Rolls Royce bwhahaha for help lmao. This is the same rolls royce that is owned by BMW>? lmao .. mind you having said that it makes more sense with German Scientists than English one s lol

Not quite true Warren. The only thing Rolls Royce aero engines shares with Rolls Royce cars (owned by BMW) is the RR brand logo and the aero company always owned that. Used to work for them and still have my authentic RR keyring! When VW bought Bentley they thought they were buying Rolls Royce cars too but RR aero engines stuffed that deal in BMW's favour because they had the rights to the brand logo and it wasnt ever going on a VW! Plus there's been other collaborations too.

I suspect there may be a bit of urban legend in this story now. I used to live in Hatfield and the whole area was pretty much dominated by the aircraft industy (De Haviland/Hawker Sidley/British Aerospace etc) and about 15 years ago I heard exactly the same story only with the RR changed to BA.
