Any Ideas what the cause is ?

The symptoms is brake shudder when braking from high speeds, I wouldn't say aggressive breaking but fairly firm.

I have brembo disks on the front about 5 months old, with kevlar pads (still got quite a bit left on them).

I don't think the discs are warped as I've done the "listen test" while the car has been jacked up and the wheels have been rotated. I couldn't hear an irregularities.

Are we talking master cylinder here ?. If so how much £'s am I looking ?

Featured Replies

Won't be the master cylinder, much more likely to be the tension rod bushes.

Hi Stu

Mine's had this for a while despite the discs and pads seeming ok, then the MOT picked up play on the front suspension link. Hopefully fixing this will sort it out.

Mine was at high speeds only, and sometimes there was no judder.

Just a thought, could be suspension related?

Thanks guys,

Sounds likes identical to my problem. only at high speeds.

The cars in the shop at the moment, soI'll get them to give it a good once over wheil they are at it.

Deffinitely TIE BAR BUSHES AKA COMPLIANCE BUSHES!!!

i too have the same problem. so what do i tell the mechanic to do. any ideas on cost......while i am here just a quick question. i am about to check the engine oil i bought some 10w-40 semi synthetic. Is that OK.

Change the front tension rod bushes to poly ones from the Z Centre - £45.

Bush number 1 on the pic.

Rose jointed tension rods from Courtesy are cool but more expensive.

Or you can buy a pair of tension rods from your friendly con man at Nissan for £260!

Had it on mine after replacing disks and pads only to find a cheap bush would have done the trick.

Tightens up the steering as a bonus too!

the root of the problem comes from imperfect disks ... this is magnified by the worn bushes ... mine was not the best ...

new tie rod bushes .. Better

new upper link bushes ... near enough perfect

Had this same judder Stu, and as Chris says, tension rod bushes that I got from Luke solved it. At first I was convinced my discs were as warped as my sense of humour.

Poly bushes......you'll only fit these the once!
