Custom Fit Speakers

Hi I want to fit custom fit speakers to my doorpanels but to save time i wondered if any one has the size of the speakers that are in the doorpanels as this would save me having to take the panels of to measure them. Im going to Crail 1/4 mile on the 11th and hope to buy a pair as i got my back ones there the last time.

Cheers

It suppose to be 6" - 6.5" speakers in the front

seen 6 by 9 in there too

yep - 6inch normally but 6.5s will fit (I have some 6.5s in mine, though I needed to make a few extra holes in the speaker brackets!)

Just be careful about the depths - you want to make sure your windows still wind down!

Russ.

I am currently working on some Carbon Fibre sealed door enclosures for the Z. Should be finalised by July. They will beat most systems with subwoofers on their own but obviously can be a part of any system (with or without sub).

This is not a plug, just thought you would be interested.

I'm interested - let me know when available and the cost and piccies would be nice too;)

I'm also intrigued, will these new carbon thingies take a variety of speaker sizes? I'm having 6 x 9s fitted as we speak.

I will post pics and prices on the forum when available. They are being designed around a 16.5 cm speaker. A set of component speakers (individual woofers and tweeters) is the ideal choice but a coaxial driver would also work and negate the need for tweeter mounting. Unfortunately they would not be very good with 6X9's, I wont get into why now as that is a long discussion but 13cm or 16.5cm would both fit.

I am looking at producing 3 versions.

1) All genuine Carbon fibre 2)Carbon fibre visible parts with GRP structure and 3)All GRP for trimming or painting.

I would stress that these are being designed for very high acoustic quality and will not be a straigh bolt on accesory. They will require modification of the door card and some minor alterations to the door to install them. The main point is that they will have a very good low end frequency response which for some people will save them buying a subwoofer setup and all the extra wiring, cost and space that involves.

Will be posting updates and photos as soon as the prototypes are finalised.

p.s I have not even done costings for these yet as this is not a priority. I would expect to be selling the all GRP units for approx 180 GBP, the others I don't want to speculate just yet.

sounds cool - r u adding some sound absorbent material behind the speakers ?

Lots of polly filling and vibration damping!!!! They will be the best money can buy, its the only way I can get what I want for my car.
