Weird noise coming from my front driver's side wheel

Seems to be worse when my foot is not on the accelerator

changes noise a little when i put my foot on the break, more noticable

no noise when I'm not moving

sounds like brake disc /pad rubbing , speed related (thanks Oli for that info)

Andy !!!!!:(

i had this, like a metalic scraping on the disc. it turned out to be the anti squeel shim had worn & was just touching the disc.

Hi Paul

Thanks

that means erm.... what???

So do I need it replaced now?or can it wait till I go to Andy's next weekend?

What exactly do I need... parts like?

Can a local garage do it?

anti squeal shim... sounds painful

lol!!

its a thin peice of metal that sits between the brake pad & the caliper piston.

i just removed mine & apllied some copper slip grease to the back of the pads which does the same thing - helps stop brake squeel.

Could be the pad worn down to the 'you're about to run out of pad material' sqeal indicator. Its a really naff idea - basically its a length of metal which touches the disk and sqeals like a pig when your brakes are worn. There is a fair amount of pad material left when the indicators start hitting the disks though. However, you do need SOME friction material to dispate the heat properly under braking so I'd get some front pads ;) Thats a real shame though - I finally managed to get courtesy to place the order yesterday - shite timing :( Maybe contact Mike @ MJP for some front pads....

CheerZ,

Andy
