In short - NOT IMPRESSED!

I have, since buying my Zed back in June 2001 been through several sets of brake pads. These have been Nissan OE, Mintex (crap, squeeled and were removed because i couldn't live with the noise), EBC Greens, EBC Reds and the latest set of EBC Reds V.2.

The promise of the V.2 Reds was that they would work from a lower temperature and that they would last longer than the original composition variety.

Now I know that I'm running slotted disks with the grooves facing forward and hense more agressive but...

5189 Miles is rediculous! They cost £110.00 for the set, IMHO definately not VFM. I didn't think that they were that much better than the Green compound in terms of 'stopping power'.

I shall be writing to EBC to express my dissatisfaction.

I have just bought a set of ferodo as a stop-gap until I can decide just what to fit, but at just £44.00 a set they could last half as long as EBCs and i'd still be quids in.

I had some ferodo pads before my greenstuffs and IMHO they worked just as well, if not better, and lasted fine - unlike my EBC's

I've been using red stuff v2 since just after Billing and they seem to wear well with drilled and grooved disks.

Performance is better than before I changed, but this may be due to the diskswhich were warped, rather than the pads.

Obviously I don't use the brakes as much as some people.

Here's a shopping list:-

R33/34 calipers

R33/34 rotors

FERRODO DS2000 pads - these may be NLA but there is a replacement

The Ferrodo pads NEVER cease to amaze me!!! Excellent stopping power hot OR cold and fantastic for dust and rate of wear...

:D:D:D

I don't think you can get DS2000's now, but the DS2500 are better, they're about £110 for the R33/34 calipers or £150 for the std Zed calipers.

The few I know that have used them say they are fecking awesome.

I put Mintex £35 on my grooved discs 10k later about half worn. No noise not much dust and stop fine. My grooves go the non aggressive way and spiral out backwards.
