Hello guys,

Am I right in saying that I can connect 2 pc's via the USB ports? Is it a special cable?

Thanks

Vijay

Its not as simple as that, you need special software and I dont know of any offical software that allows it. I think its mostly 3rd party stuff which works.

Bets way is to do it with fire wire if you can as they are classed a network devices and you connect the normal way.

I think you need a LAN card ( local area network ) in each computer, so they can recognise each other and transfer data etc.

I know you can share a printer this way.

If I remember right you can join two PC's together (win 98>) using a null modem cable and the serial ports. There is a help chapter in windows (home networking?)

Easiest way is a netwotk card in each PC and either a twisted CAT 5 cable or normal CAT 5 and mini hub. Set up in about 5 mins. Advantage with using a mini hubs is that you can always add more PC's or peripherals if needed.

u can get a usb network gadget but it only runs at 12mbits and cost about 40 quid, 2 network cards and a crossover cable will set u back no more than 30 quid and runs upto 100mbits
