Hopefully i will be getting my first Zed tomorrow BUT will it fit in the garage? anybody had problems with the width of the car.

Also is there any places in Derby/Notts that will work on it because its a TT import.

I have read the buying guide and the boost gauge should be as far left as possible but its on about -10 is that OK and is this the only to tell the condition of the turbos? is it normal for some smoke out of the exhaust

Thanks in advance.

Hello Mate,

Have you bought it because if you haven't, I would hold back until you have it checked out properly!

I don't want to cast woe on your first Z but the problems you mentioned could be very serious and costly to rectify!

JeffTT is in your area and I believe he does inspections, it would be prudent to get him to do a quick inspection on the car before you buy it!

What colour is the smoke?

You get water vapour in the exhaust which comes out as white smoke when you start up, but shouldnt last that long.

The stock turbo gauge is very inaccurate. You really need to drive it when it is warm. The needle should go upto the line before the +14PSI line. If not the car is in safty boost, and you turn and run as fast as you can.

Stuart

Not brought it yet but to be honest iam a bit scared because the turbos are so hard to change and if they went i would rather scrap it then foot the bill.

There was only a tiny bit of black smoke, but all the turbo cars i have had before have smoked a little bit.

Black or blue?

Black smoke usually means over fueling, while blue means turbos are leaking oil.

Dont forget that a turbo change means 2 turbos which can only be accessed from under the car or its an engine out job.

If the turbos do go, why you going to scrap it? how much is this car going for? If my turbos went I wouldnt scrap it, as it would be a waste of the £5000 i paid for it, let alone the thousands I have spent on her keeping her on the road.

Stuart

I am only going to pay 3500 so if the turbos go its not worth spending more money on it as i only intend to keep it for 6months.

It is still worth getting JeffTT to check it over, if you buy a minga it will be a lot more hassle than it is worth and Jeff may know of a good one for sale!

I presume you are youngish by your forum name, have you got money to burn on Insurance for a year, when you are only going to keep the car for 6 months!
