I have a 91 Auto TT

The other day I nailed it from stopped and the POWER light flicked on. Having zero experience with auto's this worried me. I searched on this forum and that seems to be OK for it to do that, but I did the autobox diagnostic and it seems my revolution sensor is knackered. I can't say I have really noticed any problems with the box, it does seem to hold it in 2nd a bit long sometimes. Also at the minute I could easily live with it, but is that wise? And where is this sensor located? If I can find it, it may just be a dodgy connection (YEAH RIGHT!) :)

Regards

Could that be the speed sensor? Its all I can think off. Has you speedo or steering been OK?

If it is your speed sensor, its easy enough to change and costs about £100 for a new one. I am sure you can get a 2nd hand one from AndyZ for a fraction of the price.

This is assuming that it is the problem.

Yeah I posted earlier about my speedo being quite erratic, it sort of hangs onto speeds when I'm slowing down. But the diagnostic showed it was the revolution sensor that was faulty. Could it be both?

Rod,

Whether the speed sensor is also shagged or not if the diagnostic throws up an error code for the rev. sensor then its either bust or disconnected.

I have a brand new one still in the packing if you need it - never had the chance to fit it on mine before the accident.

Andy

Nice one - how much do ya want?

Cheers

Karl Marx said Revolutions would occur in societys transition from the agrarian to industrial society!

If nissan has found a sensor that more accurately monitors this, please inform the Socialist Workers Party!!!!!;)

LOL

If the revolution/speed sensor is faulty then the auto box can misbehave and sometimes flashes the dash lights when you switch the ignition on.

It will cause the HICAS light to come on and the power steering malfunctions - it goes very heavy when parking and light at high speeds causing it to be difficult to keep in a straight line, the opposite of what it should do.

The speedo sometimes drops back to zero too.

Had my sensor replaced and it sorted all this.

I hadn't even linked the steering thing, but come to think of it, it does seem to drift more than in other cars when I'm driving at speed! All the symptoms are pointing at this really aren't they, but on the diagnostic thing thatyou do the Speed senor and the Revolution sensor appear to be 2 different things? Is that right, or do they both need changing?
