Yeah I get these - why don't they just keep their fvckin money FFS? There's always a nice deadline - you MUST claim your prize within 30 minutes...... blah blah.....

Yeah - and they also try to confuse you with how much it is per minute by joining up and short coding the letters and numbers.

Spam email f'kinell, sick of it. Anyone suggest a good anti spam programme? Or maybe leave a link to a site.

 

PS. why does it all seem to arrive from italy or argentia??? WTF.

yeah they keep telling me to phone liz ;)

the potential for ripping ppl off with mobile phones is huge - they are marketed and targetted so cynically. That's partly why I don't have/want one.

i know, total pain in the ass but i got one the other day that i did think was quite good.

 

it looked as though it was a message from someone i knew - i.e. it was from a recognised number stored in my phone. it said something like "i have had to go to london, dont ask - long story - and i need a favour. ring me asap on this number and ask for liz, she will put you on to me" then it gave an 0208 phone number. it looked a bit suspicious so i phoned the number back from my land line and got through to buckingham palace!!! unfortunately wasn't liz herself that answered - i got a recorded message saying that if i had just received a text message telling me to phone this number then it was a hoax!

 

felt like a bit of a twat for falling for it but also found it slightly amusing.

It's more of a 'chain text' as it does actually come from someone you know who funnily enough fell for it then thinks it's funny enough to forward on. I do believe i forwarded it on to 'several' people a month or two back who got some of the Palace 'aides' on the phone asking how they had gotten that particular number. And yes, i fell for it myself but dissed the call straight away and was quite pleased i had put 141 before the number LOL.

I got that too, had a loveley chat with liz, but she told me that one hadnt heard of anyone called Mac 1.
