My Zed seems to shake, skip side to side and by generally a nerve racking ride on bumpy roads.

This cant be normal can it?

It feels like thr Hicas could be making the back end skip from side to side over bumps.

Is it too loose?

What can i do ?

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe your shocks are shagged ! It made a big difference when I replaced mine.

How can i tell?

Is it an expensive job?

It also looks like ive a small camber on all four wheels (confirmed by inside tyre wear)

Dan

Does the car bounce more than once ? Is the shock damping gone and are they leaking oil. As a rough guide if they're done more than 40,000 miles then they almost certainly need replacing.

I think rear shocks cost about £30-35 each, not sure about fronts.

Camber on the rear wheels can be adjusted, but not on the front if you have standard Nissan parts.

Non-standard wheels and springs may well cause camber problems, as will excessively worn (sagging) springs.

It does shake and bounce side to side more than once...

Its pretty constant on a bumpy road.

I've no idea if they've been changed as it was imported at 100Km

I take it its not a job i can do myself as springs need compressing?

Dan

Mine kinda hops and skips over drains and potholes etc and mine was the rear steering arm bush. A test to see if yours is this, is to jack up the rear of the car with the wheels on and see if there is any movement/play on the wheel. Grab the tyre at quarter to 3 type position and see if it moves left/right.

If it does, let me know, I have the part number you need from Nissan, the bush is £41 + vat, I got mine yesterday!

It moves a tiny bit about a couple of mm.

Dan

To be sure I suppose you could replace those and the shocks maybe? If they are the original shocks then you can't go wrong with replacing them anyway. Oh, and you can buy spring compressors, they're not expensive.

In theory i could get the shocks and the bushes for under £150+vat.

And fit it myself?

Sounds like a Bargain!!

Thats what happens when you have a Silver Zed....Style...

!!!!!

Ta mate

The Nissan dealer near me (chippenham, wilts) said that this part number was for the ball joint!!!

Confused.......

Dan

They also said they couldnt find the part... where did you get them from?

i think thats the bush that goes in the hub your talking about - it could also be the Hicas link arms worn thats giving you the play - check to make sure your replacing the right part!!!!!

Dan..........while my Z was having some work done at ZWorld, Jeff showed me how worn this part was on mine! The play on my wheel was quite worrying! He then proceeded to give me the part number. My local Nissan dealer didn't have it in stock but could get it in the next day.

Ok, I've just taken my passenger side rear wheel off.

The ball joint type thing (that I have bought) on this wheel is at 3 o clock, you can't miss it, nothing else "pokes out" to the right hand side. The rod attached to the end of this goes in towards the middle of the car. I could wiggle this quite alot! (obviously on the drivers side, this will be at 9 o clock!)

I really must get a dig camera!

HTH.
