I obtained a quote from Adrian Flux several weeks ago (just before buying the Z). They initially quoted me for the ST24 (I had this at the time), then gave a quote for the Z and both quotes came out at £510. Excellent :) Basically, I was told if I took out the policy on the Monedeo then swapped it mid policy I would only be charged an admin fee (fair enough) or if I get the 300 before the policy is due for renewal then I would just pay the £510... Marvellous!!!

They gave me a reference number and I rang back today as my insurance is due tomorrow. Unfortunately, Mr Connelly, we only have details for the ST24. F*CK!!! After about 20 mins of fannying around and explainng what the other guy quoted me, they told me the premium was going to be a lot more than I was originally quoted for the Z and the reason the 'other guy' quoted me £510 was because...... wait for it...... he based the quote on the single turbo version of the 300ZX!!! WHAT THE F*CK!!! Need I say any more!

I'm not impressed!!!!

Peter

Messers!

If your Z is over ten years old then chuck it on classic insurance. I can give you some numbers if you want.

I agree. They're ****. I went through the quote process, went back to them, they lost the reference number I had, I went through it all again with them, got a totally different quote, then got told that they don't do imports! Tossers!

Yes please, James :)

I have mentioned this to certain insurance companies, but they keep telling me... No! Classic cars are 25+ years...

Peter

Norton Insurance (Tel. 0121 246 5050)

Doh! To get the classic insurance the vehicle needs to be my 3nd car!!! :(

Cheers,

Peter

sorry.... "2nd" ;)

I have a 200Sx and a 300ZX, and they have given me classic insurance on both, as they are both >10 yrs old.

I don't know if they would refuse it if I only had one of either -probably.

Sorry about that.

No worries bud. Maybe I should buy a f*cked robin reliant and get it insured, then say that's my primary car... lol

Insurance Factory are another good one and pretty sure they don't specify it has to be 2nd car.

Have you thought about getting another car though? Having one on classic free's up your NCB so it may be cheaper than you think to run 2 vehicles.

Its what I'm going to do......mark 2 8v golf coming up.........

I'll be able to buy one with what I'll save on insurance, AND it'll do nicely to chuck the surf board in! :D

Hi guys,

I got insured from Allen and Allen (0800 0682937) for £570... Not bad, not bad at all :)

Peter

UTTER W@NKERS!!!!

IIRC z31 single turbos were insurance group 19!

z32tt is group 18 - whats up with that? is it official adrian flux policy to make the staff sniff thinners at the start of every working day??

Was the Z31 the previous shape (

They knew fine well my 300 was the new shape 1990 H (with SS exhaust as declared mod), they even told me it was the same insurance group as the Mondeo ST24 (16), hence the same premium!!!

Most companies, especially online don't count how many turbos it has as standard. When I give them my reg it automatically comes up with Nissan 300 ZX Turbo Coupe 1990-1994. I've never seen it come up as a twin turbo... It was the same when I had my MK4 Supra.

It was the poorest excuse I've ever heard to justify a colleagues lack of professionalism.

Regards,

Peter

When I've done online quotes before, my car shows up as a Z31 (presumably because the DVLA have it down wrong!) and the quote always goes up when I change it to a Z32. I wouldn't be surprised if the Z31 Turbo was a group 16.

That's still no excuse to misquote though. I'm sure that insurance company employees don't actually listen to what you tell them!

Parkers price guide had z31 non turbo down as a group16 car and the turbo down as group 19, while the zz32tt was listed as group 18

Gotta admit I did wonder about how the insurance co's came to this sensible decision:rolleyes: :D
