arrr bless little baby subs

in my boot is a longmill 900 watt amp (believe it or not but i like longmill and this thing is a paving slab)

a sub box which fit in as big as it can get and a dvd player

my sub is 13.5 kg and 19 cm high

I went off buying kenwood and pioneer as i used to blow them up.

I think i have had a lot of subs for a 22 year old

eg about 11 longmil subs

5 or 6 jensen (including the hand print ones)

erm 5 kenwood

4 earthquake

2 pioneer

at least 5 tornado, boss, other cheapo ones (hehe)

2 fane 18" xb

1 infinity kappa

and one db audio

not bad hur anyone beat that for someone only driving 4 years amd i am not koking (was in redline for one of my soundoffs at mean street)

smw1 i see you are going ported? any reason as most people with more than 2 subs dont do that and the mroe subs the harder to get the timing of the right (though no nothing about cars, no quite abit about sound system or did anyway)

are you havin a 1 cubic foot for each sub and ported or 2 sharing a compartment?

Oh and still looking for back speakers!! oh and maybe cheap front ones if anyone has any?

Only running 2 ports per 4 subs. It's going to be a dual box set up.

I've attached a picture below of how it will look when it's all finished. This design has been copyrighted apparently, but I have been speaking to the guy in California who built this and he has agreed to help me out and sent me lots of info and photo's.

Looks nice mate. Are you taking out spare wheel and stuff?

I got a 52 cm by 24 cm by 2 foot 10"

It got a large square port

Should i keep my 18" sub in there

should i put my 2 12" subs in there

Should i put my 2 10" subs in there?

Yep joined the RAC, so I've taken the lot out, including tools and jack etc.

I am with the r a c as well

What happeneds if you have a blow out and no spare?

We should meet up sometime if you dont live too far away

We've had this conversation already remember. You are in aldershot and I'm in Romford.

;)

Sorry mate

Erm so they will bring a new tyre then?

Get a tyre inflator in the boot and a can of tyre foam/repairer. Some of them temporarily repair small punctures until they are repaired in a garage.

Sony headunit

longmill nice graphic eq

5.6 inch tv

in boot

5 1/2 inch jbl gto in custom boxes

18" sub in box (not bad need work

900w longmill amp

300 Sony amp

DVD player

0.5 nice cap

Sounds nice and the it lights up well in the dark

Need to sort the bass out dont seem to be doing low freq well

The bigger the amp (i.e. size not wattage) The deeper or lower the base (i.e. frequency).

I thought that was how it worked ?. Is this not the case ?

Erm NO

The amp only boosts the signal

The sub size (and what frequency it can handle) plus the type (eg ported or sealed) and the size of the box decideds the sound

ported is louder but you really need to get the box turned for port lengh and size

sealed handles fre better and are smaller boxes but not as loud

This is based on the sound off contese i been to or entered and the louded carsa have ported boxes (bandplace)

Cool, thanks for that simon. Never knew that. I didn't even know there was a sealed and ported selection.

There are basicaly three types of box for your subs..

1 sealed, this is as it said sealed

2 ported, this is a sealed box with a tube inserted, venting the air.

the tube or port is tuned to the frequency of the sub by sise and length. Larger the sub, larger the length and opening sise of the port.

3 band pass, this is like having two boxies with the sub fixed in between, the side that the sub playes into is usualy ported.

4 not realy a 4 but you can have all sorts of combinations of the three.

now we all know all about sub boxies. what do they do?

WELL THEY MAKE THE SOUND REAL LOUD!!!!

But you need to know what you are doing to get it to sound any thing like right... Did any one have a look at my setup on the front at Brighton? it doesnt take much power to sound sweet!!

Yeah Chris, I do like your sub's. They sound great :D

Very impressed with your mouldings that you did to hold them too.

Have you got a picture you can put up ?

So what you got in your car then mate

For some reason i could not remember the name of the third box (even though i had one) hehe

My box has 2 square ports and are not turned yet

very good for high freq bass but not for the 45 and lower

not good seeing it is a 18" sub

Sorry Stu no pic's, dont realy like to blow my own trumpet (if only) I'll try and get one over to you so you can put it on for me. I've also started the door builds to hold the 6inch mids, the tweeters are already in the top of the doors and look fine.

Burf mate what have I got..

Well it starts with a JVC head unit with two preouts in to Pro-Plus equaliser to split the signal into three. Then Front channel Is Pro-Plus amp with Alpine 6inch component set in the doors. Rear is 6x4 JBL in the factory pods. Base Runs through an Alpine amp with two 10inch Infinity subs mounted in a custom built box (no ports) for a crisper sound (has a snapier base note with less boom!) All power is 4g cable and gold fittings. Also lots of Dynamat. It all sounds a bit of mix match but it is all stuff I have taken out of other cars and had laying around doing nothing.

It also gives me more room in the bed room!!!

Hi all, I been having a good ol' giggle at you lots systems opinions etc.. very entertaining. I have if anyone wants a custom made box for a 2+2 containg 2 x JL10W6 speakers with a alpine mrv-f1000 amp to power them (can be heard if you want i live in surrey) i am selling my Z so all the kit is up for grabs as im gonna sell the ice separately. the box is sealed and follows the contours of the boot area and is trimmed in black trunkliner. it's good for about 133Db with the alpine amp running it but is geared more towards quality bass than absolute output. mail me if your interesed. i will try and get a pic and post it for ya.
