July 10, 200124 yr Got my car back from Nissan, still havent fixed the fuel/hesitation problems, now they think they might rip out the Air Flow Unit and replace it, anyone know what this is, does and costs? sound like a realistic thing to have to do?
July 10, 200124 yr He don`t know if this is true but once read that fuel pumps measure fuel by volume so if you fill up at night when its cooler you actually get more fuel for your money ?? be nice if its true Jeff TT
July 10, 200124 yr Sounds like they mean the Mass Air-Flow Meter, this measures the amount of air flowing into the engine via your air filter and sends the readings back to the ECU. Your mixture is then calculated by the brains. Fuel to Air ratio. So I suppose that they are fishing for the fact that it may be faulty??? Have Nissan ran a Consult test on your motor? If not I would suggest you run your own ECU diags. as Nissan are probably trying to keep you on for the ride and swap as much out without fixing your problem matey! No different in NZ than here in Blightey geeZer! LOL! Tim ;-)
July 10, 200124 yr The Presumably do mean the MAS unless they are talking about the whole Intake ! It is a reasonable assumption to say that it could be causing Hesitation yes If they are a new MAS is very costly - the exact figer escapes me but i think between 400 and 600 quid from Nissan. They don often go wrong but the connectors are prone to corrosion and damage - i would check that first - Also this Should show up on a ECU diagnostic if it is sending crap readings - i would do one - if you dont know how - learn now - it is easy and even a monkey could do it. There are a lot of things that can cause engine hesitation and it takes a skilled diagnostic expert to find them on a Z if they do not know the car. Z ya Nico 91TT
