Scott dont bother;) Check out what Luke is selling they cost around £100 and are top quality gear;)

tried but didnt have them on time ... tried a few weeks ago and they where not in .....

could have got bushes made up over here but was advised not to .. if the mot c suspension non standard they r very suspesios

mot here is a lot tuffer than english mot

check also the Nissan bulletin on these - up to around 5mm play can be OK. I have about that on one side and it passed its last 2 MOTs

got nismo bushes fitted ... dead easy

hammer chisel .....

good vice is all that is needed

i thought only 1 side was worn but when i got them out and tested ir showed wear on both sides

I had the same (hence the service bulletin getting published!) but I also discovered that when the top link was at that extreme of wear it was causing uneven front tyre wear !

sounds like I better get rid of that 5mm of play then. So replacing the bushes is what to do? Not buy new top links

My fronts are wearing outside more than insides and more so on the side with the play. Car still handles fine tho

Do I understand this thread right - you can replace the bushes in the front suspension top links? I thought you had to change the whole link?

If so who is it supplies the bushes?

Thanks

Luke;)

Thanks MAC1

I now understand Luke does a kit with bearings and bushes or will do exchange to links fitted out.

The kits are I think £95ish plus VAT etc per side

So what did Scott fit?

You *** CAN *** replace the bushes in the upper link, both inner and outer sides of the link, The replacement bushes are made by Nismo, and can get them from some dealer in merseyside, or from cortesyparts.. I think it cost somewhere in the region of £150 for all the bushes (thats inner and outer on both sides of the car. ) 16 bushes in total.

Hope this helps, some of you. didnt help me because scott only found out after i bought the entire link.

cheers

Mick

the place that i got bushes was middleton or somfin like that

0174426681 bushes are about £15 odd each +vat they are the same bushes they use in skylark ... dead easy to fit .... pukka nissan stuff as well which makes me a little happier

scottie:)

  • 2 months later...

Just fitted these Nismo bushes to mine too. What a bitch getting the inner mounts off the inner wing. The nuts were so tight. Although I could only feel a little play on one side of the car and it has passed 2 MOTs like this the links on both side had loads of play once the suspension weight was disconnected. Strange but the old bushes I knocked off the top links were similar but not exactly the same as the new Nismo ones. I was expecting to take off plain rubber ones not greased bearings with rubber seals. The part numbers of the Nismo ones start with the same first 5 digits. The new Nismo ones also say competition use only?? Same bushes are on the Courtesy Nissan site.

My service records on the car says a Nissan dealer changed the top links 30k miles ago. So they did'nt last very long. I wonder if these Nismo ones will be any better. The car is running 18"X8.5 front. Maybe the heavier wheel and less bump absorbing lower profile tyre is wearing the damn things out quicker than normal.

Still the steering has gone nice and direct now. There is no noise over potholes etc and the front end feels all tightened up as it should.

I think, as Scott also says, uneven tyre wear comes from this as the wheel will lean more on cornering due to the play and scrub the shoulders.

Willie

cant feel much diff in road feel ... tyres wearing evenly now and knock gone out of front of the car

£150 much better £300 :D
