electric window switches

Can anyone tell me if the electric window switches light up when you switch on the main lights of the car, at the moment my passanger switch doesnt light at all, and my drivers side, the arrow pointing towards the car lights but not the arrow pointing down towards boot. If these are suppossed to light can you replace bulbs or are they a sealed unit and need complete replacing, cheers. 94 uk man TT.
