If I have an exhaust system fitted without cats.....do I need to reset the ECU?

If so , how do I do it ?

Cheers,

F.T.

Featured Replies

It would do no harm, just leave the battery disconnected for 30 minutes or so.

Thanks Andy,

I'll do that while it's being fitted.

F.T.

Don't be surprised if you start smoking a little after the cats are out mate.

How many miles you got on those turbo's ? :D :D

I wanna take my out but I'm scared

Stu!.............go for it mate! Mine have been out a couple of years now. You know you want to. Having an induction kit but not cats out is only half the job done!

Go on..............those cats are like the gases hitting a brick wall!

I'll wait until I get a newzorst then I'm going to powerflow :D.

Nice avatar by the way. About time someone sorted that out for you ;)

Don't be suprised if you start smoking

What do you recon ? 20 a day to start....slowly building to 40!!

Hopefully my turbos will be OK (famous last words!!) they've got 55,000 miles on them and a turbo timer was fitted when I bought it.

Cheers,

F.T.:D

James,

You've got the straight through Powerflow exhaust , haven't you?

How long did they take to fit it? And did you disconnect the battery to reset the ECU afterwards?

Cheers,

F.T.:D

Is that what you are going for Tony ?

A power flow straight throgh ?

I had mine done in two stages, back box first and then a month later (after payday) got those cats out.

Back boxes took a couple of hours, rest of the system took half a day or so.

I didn't make a point of disconnecting battery but I suppose it wouldn't hurt to do this afterwards.

Lifetime gaurantee with Powerflow, on the condition you take it annually to them for a check up! Quite a range of different tail pipes aswell, from rocket launcher to regular! Nothing you don't know I suppose.

Have the Powerflow dealer you're thinking of going to done a 300 before? I wouldn't want to be the first tbh. I knew my nearest one had done a few.

HTH.
