Has anyone else had the misfortune of sliding their Zed into a large kerb and damaging the rear wheel, suspension and steering arm?

If so, please could you let me know how much the bill came to?

I've been quoted between £900 and £1200 so far. And Im not happy.

Thanks

Brian.

By the sounds of it if you have damaged that, there is a possibility that you bent the frame slightly.

Most of the things you can get 2nd hand, but dont bother with the suspention. Always try to get new suspention.

Ask Andy Z for the wheel and steering arm he may be able to keep the cost down.

You have a UK or Jap Z? Cos if you have a UK Z it may be harder to find a wheel. There are a few scrap yards that do Jap cars they may be able to help.

Stuart

depends what you've done.

iv just replaced all the suspension on my o/s/r after an accident.

tbh, once stripped, the only part the looked bent was the lower arm, but it was an insurance job so best to be safe ;)

many of the parts are 'kin expensive tho :(

you must have hit it pretty damn hard to do that sort of damage tho - doesnt just want a wheel refurb & wheel alignment does it???

Yep hit it quite hard. :(

I'm still debating if I should go through insurance. I havent got any protected no claims. So my insurance would double next year if I did go down that route. As I already pay £1200+...

As for second hand parts, would any UK spec parts fit?

Cheers

Brian

:D I'm not very far from Kingsway, I'm on Silverdale Avenue, small world isn't it......

You have my sympathy. 5 days after I got my ed the wife took it to Germany in the middle of bloody Winter so that she could show off to here friends. 6" of snow = Broken wheel and steering rack. £200 for the wheel and £900 for the rack plus labour Had to be an insurance job.

She has been off the Zed insurance for 5 years because of that but had to go back on this year to get my premiums back down to a sensible level.

Im not sure if its better or worse knowing that I only had myself to blame.
