JAP 1994M, 300zx, nonTT, 43,000miles, green, non-leather,manual,£8995.He`s giving me £2500 for my primera 20eGT,94M, with £700 nearly new 17inch 7 spoke league tantrum alloys(which is a grand more than i`ve been offered elsewhere[absolutely disgusted about that i bought it for £5500 only 2 years ago])

1994M ,40k ish miles is a beauty isn`t it?(i have seen a few of 90/91 advertised but not as late as 94M .Am i too optimistic to say this may well promise a bit or reliability and low maintenance?Pretty youthful as far as ZX`s go init? Was a bit suprised to see it had no leather(pretty nice though)what kind of spec and 0-60 should i be expecting from it?It`s not as fast as a TT though is it?But pantsfilling fast though yeah?Should get home wide eyed and shaking every day though yeah?Anything i should look out for?

He is putting me through with my current financer so i`m pretty sure it`s going to be finalised over weekend. He said they imported it a year plus ago and sold it to a guy who had it serviced with them after he`d bought it.Anyway the guy brought it in the other day to get a new clutch and saw a bmw he liked and went off with that instead(they`ve got some bloody lovely cars) so he`ll do the clutch for me and it`s mine subject to credit approval.Saying that though the only time you can hope to believe a car salesman is when he`s got his mouth shut.

Anyone familiar with the dealer "UK IMPORTERS CLUB" LIVERPOOL?Any scary stories?Christ i dont need any of them i think i`m going to puke already. Can`t believe i`ve just put a deposit on my very own ZED.

cheers

oh yeah and the only thing i can see wrong with it at this stage is drivers side wing mirror is heavily taped. These are supposed to retract electrically aren`t they ( or am i thinking of something out of a bond film?)so i guess this would be an expensive put right wouldn`t it?

cheers

Hi,

As an Ex non-turbo owner, I can say that they are great cars! They aren't as fast as a TT, but will still scare a lot of cars on the road, in manual gearbox form!!(The Auto NA's can be a bit slow!)

What sort of seat trim does it have?...If it's tweed, rather than velour, it's not a '94 model!(you can always upgrade to leather from a scrapped car)

0-60mph is about 6.7/6.8 secs...Top speed 148/150mph!

Beware!...The door mirrors are £200 each to replace(Mine was broken on my import)!!

Finally...It's a lot of money for an NA 300ZX...make sure it's mint at that sort of ££££££.

From experience, you may find you want more power after a while, and start wishing you had bought a TT!However, they are great cars, and I would consider buying another(2 seater next time)

The non TT's have about 220 horsepower stock and I think the 0-60 is about 7-8 seconds, but some of n/a guys should be able to correct me. If its a 1994 it may be a Series 2, which had a couple of changes e.g padded arm rests on doors. Your right in saying the door mirror should retract. If its busted then see if they get you one at trade price or even better free smile.gif

I was quoted from a breakers in Catford SE london £180. I think a couple of guys have door mirrors for sale on here (but the drivers side is popular, I should know I need one! ).

Trev

Sh*t it`s not going to happen is it.These nonTT`s are the looks without the adrenalin rush aren`t they? That`s not what i want!Knew it was too good to be true.Any bets the guy who brought it back after a year expected the same and was disappointed so came back for something else.I`ll be f*cked if i`m going to go through the same.Oh well i suppose i`ll keep looking then(specifically for a TT now)boo hoo!

THANKS again chaps

Hi,

The stock HP on a Jap spec. NA is 230bhp.With a couple of mods you can increase this to 250/260hp.However, a stock TT will have more power...and can be more easily upgraded to higher levels.

You need to use all the revs on a manual non-turbo car, as the variable valve timing doesn't kick in until higher in the rev range. If you want instant power, go for an autobox TT!!

JEZ

Think the trim was velour.Come on all you nonTT dudes awake from your hangovers and tell me if you think your nonTT is fast enough. What would you say the 0-60 is.If it is 6.7-6.8 that will do but 7-8 has me feeling a bit sick.My primera20eGT is doing 8.4 now.I have to be honest.I don`t know if i`m in most of you guys` league yet.I`ve got the feeling you lot are used to driving cars or at least expecting cars doing 0-60 in under 6 secs so when you say a 3.0 v6 24v ZED is a bit slow i should look at it with a bit of perspective. The fastest thing i`ve owned is my eGT and it`s a very stiff suspensioned pokey car but do you think the NA ZED will do me.After all i`ve never even experienced a TT so how could i miss it?If i put an air induction kit on it that`ll boost the performance to about what do you think?

Good god let me off this bloody rollercoaster!!!

thanks chaps

Hi dave,

If you're not sure, which you're not - don't buy it!

I saw a good deal when I was looking a few years back... still over 20k... prices now are scary low! I decided not to buy beacuse I was convinced it had been clocked in the end. That's something you too should look into when getting something with such a good mileage, a high milage leather shows the miles a lot more than the fabric you saw. I actually got a copy of the log book and phoned the previous owned and garage, not only does it help with proving the milage, some nissan garages will tell you any work carried out.

good luck

------------------

How can i look into it`s history if it`s an import beyond contacting the guy who owned it for a year (apparently) before me.I plan on getting the reg doc and doing just that before i sign. One thing raised an eyebrow though. when i got an online quote from directline for the first Jap Zed i saw the other day i put the reg in and it knew it(like it had direct access to DVLA`s Reg Doc database or something) because it sort of filled in the rest of the car details itself. But when i put this reg in(for this M reg import one) it said it did not know the car and i had to put in all it`s details. Now the dealer told me it`s been in UK for over a year with the guy they sold it to so how come directline couldn`t find it given the reg?Didn`t he register it or something(probably just being paranoid ).

Also still an insurance problem to be overcome is that directline only had there being a TwinTurbo for91-94 and i had to chose "turbo) simply to complete the quote. How come it didn`t let me chose a non turbo option for 94?

Bl00dy hell i bet you all wish i`d never come on this site now "who`s this irritating tw*t dave with the 50 questions every post"

sorry chaps

cheers

Dave Mcirritating tw*t

(just taken it for a test anyway but i wont put it here i`ll open a new post...

Hi Dave, welcome to the intriguing world of buying a Zed smile.gif

The reason Direct Line only have a turbo Zed in the listings is because the NA was not an option on UK models. Direct line do not insure imports (as far as I know) so would not even consider putting it on their list...

If you do have any doubts about the power of the car then I would wait... Mine is a TT and I still want more power biggrin.gif

CheerZ,

Andy
