I was told that broadband gives a different IP address each time you connect, take it ive been mis-informed???

That rather depends on how long the DHCP lease is, but if someone just swapped ID's then they would have the same IP for both sessions.

I always thought that it was the other way around.

Most Broadband cable connections require a static IP address (i.e. always the same) Dial up services including some dial up broardband services will be allocated a new IP address at each connection.

Anyway, I was only kidding James and I'm sure you know this :D :D. We know you've got more important things to worry about than arguing with yourself ;).

My moneys on "Right said Marc" :D :D

Well, that's just typical, isn't it!

Fancy all the "usual suspects" squabbling over a little female attention!!;) ;)

Stu, as if I'd stoop as low as to make cheap remarks about the colour of you car ... (although you've gotta admit, Pink is a bold choice, eh?) ;)

Right, I'll get me coat and head for FC!!!

JB.

Some broadband providers give you a fixed address, sometimes they just give you a long lease. I know with BT you have to pay extra, I think it's their Business 500 that provides a fixed address.

My BT Satellite broadband is DHCP.
