Head gasget failure?

Tim

sounds abit terminal to me. sorry:( distict lack of coolant. waterpump maybe?

Hi Guys thanks for the replies,

I did put anti freeze in 2 days before in the top up bottle and when I the car cooled down I eventually checked the radiator itself, it was I think almost empty.

I had the oil and oil filter changed 2 weeks ago and topped up the oild 2 days before this.

yeah, you should fill the radiator up, not the expansion tank. Sounds like you may have blown out the head gasket(s).

similar event happened to a friend's Civic ESi.. mechanic said the valve seal has broken due to hardening...

Erm, where was the white steam coming from? It sounds to me like you've blown a hose. Did the engine start once it had cooled down? You need to do a compression test.....

Thanks again guys,

I suspected a head gasket, radiator was full as I stopped 20 mins before to do all my checks, as I was leaving to come back to the UK. Nevertheless Im trying to find a Nissan Dealer in Cologne to help me out, there is one near my friend but they say they havent the tools to do the job. I couldnt pin point exactly where the white smoke was coming from, also when the car cooled, it didnt start, ignition turned over but not the motor.

Any one got any ideas on how much the parts will cost? or the labour? I can negogiate the labour (My girlfriend speaks german) this will give me an idea, whether to fix it over there or somehow bring it back to the UK

Thanks again

Sorry, was the white smoke coming from the exhaust or the engine bay?

Was coming from the engine bay

Hmmm thats a split hose not the HG. Try doing an ecu diagnostic - maybe a connector is full of water or something....

Found a vehicle recovery, and will they will take the car to Cologne Nissan Dealer. I will speak to the dealer and suggest its a split hose.

BTW I didnt have european 5 star cover and had no favours from AA so guys and gals if you go to europe check before you go the they will support you entirely in a breakdown.

My car insurance on this car is 3rd party only, my other car insurance is 5 star but doesnt cove me on the ZX300

Insurance companies.......give me strength

Anyone got any ideas what the costs could be?

Sorry about my ignorance but whats a ECU test?
