My car has a poblem revving over about 6000rpm. It pulls hard at low revs then at about 5k it loses a lot of go. Other than that and a nackered clutch (replacement soon to arrive from smithy:) ) she's running nice and smoooooth..

Ive replaced fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, fuel filter and have tried wiring pump straight to 12v to check pump controller. Also today checked fuel pressure with new gauge and it seems ok.

Also changed spark plugs (in hind site they might not be brilliant, ill get one out later and check the code) changed ptu cleaned throttle body connector and mas connector. Checked voltages on CAS.

Checked ignition timing and changed cambelt to make sure it wasnt off a tooth and it wasnt.

There might be a slight air leak but its blimmin impossible to get down the sides of the beasty engine, if there is one it seems like its before the n/s turbo thus would it matter much?

Could a solenoid be breaking down at high revs and would one have much of an effect?

Possible injector problem?

Other than that im out of ideas, what seems a likely reason?

Oh and compression test came out ok.

Cheers:p

oh and sometimes i get the rotten eggs nackered cat smell, could a bloked cat cause much of a problem?

A collaped cat can cause that problem. I think I know some one with a SX whos engine ran like a bag of poop and it turned out to be a collapsed cat. Just rip the buggers out and get it done with ;)

I think thats a load of Crap, never has been proven ect. Lots of guys on here run Blowers without cats with no problems whatsoever.

I suspect its usually fropm turbios with massive milage, or have had the shit driven into them ect, rather than from backpressure.

So long as you have a silencer on an exhaust you are giving it enough backpressure.
