Water temp gauge install

Bout to install an autometer temp gauge i bought, do i need to install the sender unit or can i use the existing one?

If i do use the existing one should i disconnect the stock gauge connected to it?

    I connected mine to the 2. They seem to be working well and my aftermarket on is showing the optimum temp and the fan came on when the gauge showed the temp it should come one if you get what I mean
