Ok, I bet you guys are biased but should I buy a 300ZX?

I have a 200SX (S13) at the moment which is fine but I think the 300 looks sweet.

I ride motorbikes so I'm used to high performance and I had a drive in a mate's Fairlady, which seemed pretty quick.

I almost bought the Fairlady (J-plate, 120,000kms, nice condition, £2500) but I'm terrified of huge repair bills.

The fuel consumption and insurance I can live with cos they're predictable but how much will servicing / engine repairs cost? What's a worst and best case figure?

(I bet people ask this question all the time...)

Craig David (no, not that one...)

Check out http://www.300zx.org.uk/ for lots more info and buyer's guides.

I've had mine since Aug 1999 and (fingers crossed) never regretted it. What better bargain could there be?

Cheers - Gio

Even though mine is playing up a bit and not running to it's full potential, it's one of the best damn cars money can buy.

Apart from the speed (yes it's very fast), it handles superbly for a 1.5 ton car.

The steering is very light at low speed and gets heavier the faster you go, it's also very quick and precise.

The car doesn't feel like a heavy car when driving.

It sounds great, has looks that make people stare when you drive past and virtually nothing can keep up with you on the road.

I'd have to say it's the best car I have ever been fortunate enough to own.

Just prepare yourself for huge fuel bills if like me you can resist opening it up whenever there's an open road :p

Just look at these reviews I couldn't find anything bad said about the Zed, they helped me make my mind up :)

Nah! Buy an RX7! Now that looks nice!

Nah, spend £2 on modding the S13... I have 1 of each and prefer the S13.

If you dont buy one you'll miss the opportunity to fling great handfulls of cash into a bottomless pit:D especially once you've started modding the f**ker AND you'll think burrowing to the arse end of your credit rating is a really, really good idea, and though you'll be peniless and destitute at least you'll have a smile on your face:D .....(until something else goes wrong and you have to sell your teeth, along with your kidneys, a lung, an eye, vast swathes of marrow etc...)

.....I'd do it all again though:D

eg. of costs....2 rear tyres £230 and they were not expensive tyres - on the cheaper end of the scale.

LOL

Saw you coming did they Nelson?

I pay £89 a corner for the best, IMHO, GY Eagle F1s.

Tim

Price was with VAT and fitting - was yours ?

Also - my rear are 245s and 16" (stock wheels) - tyres for 17" wheels can be cheaper because they are more common.

I've always found My tyres really good and fast for delivery :)

They look really good value - will use them in future I think.

You have to get them fitted, but there's loads of places that don't charge much.

I think I paid £7 per wheel :)

Craig,

I have not got the experience of most of the guys on this site, so will simply say this:

I sold my 98 blade to buy my Zed.

I have found the car (although only a NA) a FGL to run around in, have chased Gixer 750s through the bends and never regretted a minute since I picked the car up 3 weeks ago. I have started on the modding, having said that first thing I did on the blade was stick a loud pipe and a hugger on it, and I am looking forward to spending as much as it takes to make the car what I want it to be.

Ps if you think that the camraderie of the bikers is good, you will love this forum

Just my honest opinion

Get one Craig, you might remember me off the SXOC, I got one about a month ago. It's an amazing car and you only realise how good it is the longer you have it. I loved my 200 & still think it looks great when I see it knocking about but I couldn't imagine having anything other than a Z now.

The people on this forum make it possible for folk like us to own a Z. Keep browsing this site & you'll come to notice that everybody on it thinks they own the best car in the world, but they don't 'cause mine is. See what I mean?

Do your home work, see who's in your area, then get one. I hope to have mine for many years.

Goo on lad. Roy.

Buy one, they are simply the BEST car you can get for the money.

They look sooooooo good, they are generally very reliable, very very tunable (again not many other cars can get so much extra HP for so little money). The most important factor though is FUN, they are so much bloody FUN!!!!!!!!!!! I love mine and wouldn't ever want to get rid of it.

Buy one, buy one, bye one,

p.s TT's are the obvious choice for extra power. Don't buy a NA with the intention to convert to TT, it is not cost effective against buying a TT in the first place.

Good luck and may the FUN be with you.

Paul
