i bought a liteon 52x24x52 for 45 quid the other week, good drive, only thing is if you burn audio cd's faster than about 12x then the outside tracks skip when you play it back :(

Did you have disc-at-once on?

Cos if you dont its not compatable with some players.

Another bad thing about writing at that speeds, not all CD-R can be written at that speed and you writer may be hindered by the CDs.

I have a Memorex 32 write. It does CD's in just over 2mins, Audio, Data or video. Never made a bad CD and does all the CD text and stuff.

dont you have a copy of a meatloaf album? thats a pretty bad cd ;)

disc-at-once eh? Ill have to try that one, its only audio cd's, i can burn data cd' at 52x no problems at all. From what ive seen audio cd's cause problems on most high speed writers, using proper audio cd-r's helps the problem though, but at a price!

disc at once? I assume he's talking about write disc at once? Instead of creating an image first? It basically writes all the stuff to your had drive before burning it to the CD. I'm not exactly sure of the implications, I think it's if you're copying a CD, so you stick your CD in copy the image to your hard drive, then stick in your blank CD and write the image.

You can use the fastest writers out there, I have a samsung 58 x 28 x 58 and the latest nero burning rom and as long as you do a simulation first and have a quick enough hard disk to supply the reader you never get a problem, make sure you use disc at once for audio or vcd/svcd and some half decent cd-rs, memorex 58 speed compatibles are only £10 for 50 makes them 20p each !

check overclockers . i got a mitsumi from them & have no probs. use Nero which iv used for years without probs (normally bundled free).
