Zed in today for petrol small/ leak, check out the attached pic.

The leak is actually under the fuel tank holding strap, looks like the strap has rotted and taken the tank out too!

Just be aware if you have a UK spec car they do seem to corrode on the tank straps, this is not the first I have seen and always UK zeds.

you have some bad luck cos:) :)

Well,

Apart from one of my calipers ceizing in November of 2001, this is the only other thing that has gone wrong with my Z. (He says confidently)

Maintenance is the key!

I have a hole in my petrol tank neck, and after getting one from AndyZ, I set out to change it over. Got under the car, put mu screwdriver in the screws which holds the neck into the tank, turned it and the screw just fell apart. That is why I am changing the tank as well as the neck as soon as I get the chance.

I've just changed the tank on my UK Z for exactly the same reason. The tank is leaking from where one of the straps are. Its also ruined my tarmac driveway where its been leaking.

AndyZ

The leak only started about 2 weeks ago so not too much damage for me, besides, my driveway is concrete.

I know its a bodge but Ive done it on another car and it worked long term - glass fibre and resin. Course you have to clean it up first and get all the petrol out and of course you cant simply run a grinder over it to clean up the rust or it goes bang. The radiator repair people can also often put it in a caustic bath and when clean solder a patch on it. If you have a lot of rust then forget it though.

Have spotted a leak on mine in the exact same place. Will hopefully get a replacement tank to sort it asap
