Has anybody had one of the fit-it-yourself replacement leather interiors from Z Centre in Nottingham? If so, is the leather of the same quality as the factory fitted stuff, and are they a pain in the backside to fit?

Cheers

I'd serioulsy hope it's better than the factory stuff - the original quality is not great !

I know...thats what I mean. It's down to just under 600 quid inc. vat, but it was over 600 a while ago. A lot of money, either way.

Take a look at my site for the £40 version of the leather interior

Looks good m8 might give this ago myself;)

I have a z centre drivers seat leather kit sitting in a box on my dining room floor right now (thanks Luke) and it is very very good. Also, £500 aint bad from my point of view. Took the car to a local interior specialist a while back and they wanted £190 + VAT for recovering the drivers seat alone.

Hi,

Yeah I did it myself. the leather is excellent quality, the finished article is down to fitting. I fitted it myself, 2 weeks work every evening, but I'm pleased with it.

Geoff.

2 bloody weeks?! What's involved with fitting it, then?

Well Blue

- for the seats you have to take them out of the car - strip off the old covers retaining the wires in the seams and then refit the new ones tying them in place with copper rings or you can use those cable ties. That alone takes considerable time. It's proper car upholstery - not just stretch covers.

Then all the other tweed bits in the car have to stripped off - which means taking the parts out of the car - time consuming. Preparing the surfaces putting the new leather and (foam if so preferred). Then refitting everything. There are alot of tricky pieces and it all takes time and patience.

I'd never done it before - but I'm pleased with my effort.

Speak to Luke at Z Centre for advice.

Otherwise you could find an upholsterer who would do it - but it will cost.

Geoff.

Ps I may consider doing it for you for a competative fee!
