Can anyone tell me what the standard psi guage underneath the speedo on a UK TT is actually reading. The one that reads -14 to 0 to +14.

Mine reads approx -12 on idle and under full throttle never extends beyond 0.

Cheers.

oh dear, get the wallet out! That means one of your turbo's has gone byebye. Its reading the inlet manifold pressure (boost gauge), its notoriously inaccurate, and should move to almost the end of the scale on the right when on boost (full throttle).

HMMMMMMMM!!! ARSE !!!!

Not the response I was hoping for but makes sense as my Zed has as much turbo boost as a Mini Metro.

Unfortunately been like this for a few weeks since I bought it. Have been doing various checks over time and replacing bits and pieces and missing the bloody obvious.

Can they be overhauled or are we talking forget it and buy new, only I am on a smallish budget so secondhand might be an option although you never know what you are going to get.

How difficult to replace in man hours and cost.

Cheers

unfortunatly, a turbo swap on a zed is a missive job, requires removing the engine, and will cost a small fortune, as a ballpark figure id say 1000 quid, other people will be able to tell you better. If I were you, i'd try to shift it on and buy a good one. Mind me asking how much you paid for it?

Check for boost leaks before commiting to a turbo rebuild or run the engine with one of the turbo/throttle body pipes off and rev whilst holding your hand in the air flow, should feel a bit of turbo boost, at least it may show you if only one side is not working and then you can investigate all the pipes on that side (may save some time)

Hope that helps

All advice before having to think the worst will gladly be listened to.

Clarkey.

£5500

Need to decide whether this could be worth throwing money at or cut losses.

Engine starts and sounds sweet with no knocking or rattling, interior is excellent and structurally pretty good. Just spending a little on brakes and exhaust needs replacing. Hardly any rust worth mentioning.

Wish I had found this site before purchase. May have found a better one.

As many people say on this forum don't buy the first one you see!!

ouch, 5500 is a bit much, im presuming it was a private sale? If it was id take it back and say a few chosen words to the seller.

I suppose Jeff is right in saying it might not be a turbo, take a look and pray for the best :(
