spent the day with my brother putting in new gauges, all sorted, all fixed up, nice and tight in cockpit, all wiring cable tied fused etc...etc....

lid off, sounds up, straight to halfors for autoglym ready for tomorrow........come out of shop, BIG puddle of shite under car...OIL !!!!!! hot, smelly, runny fookin oil. Caned the sh$t out of her going through forest on way to southampton, so set timer to 3 mins as i went in!!!

Brother came over, we jacked her up, and i just cannot explain the amount of shite which has pumped out from where we put the oil pressure gauge sender, poss crossed thread????

checked oil level with dipper, bout half full on dipper BUT oil still hot. 2 hours after AA twats sent beavertail (told them not to - shes too low) turned up 3.25 hours from first call with funny detatchable flatbed thinghy and recovered to brothers 'friends' garage where they are now.

waiting for call regarding damage etc... couldn't bear to be there to listen to 'friend' repeatedly taking sharp intakes of breath similiar to a fookin plumber/builder/****w$t....

keep ypu posted, fingers crossed for sunday.

Sorry to hear that, but i found the same problem with the sender unit (not enogh thread in the plug hole next to oil filter)!

I wasn't happy so didn't fit it in the end.

But if you find a sender to do the job - let me know;)

harve, i am sure it wasn't cross threaded, just a REAL pig to get in/to.... so im waiting for verdict, made it quite clear the garage its at WILL NOT be doing ANY work on her, so hopefully get honest appraisal, dont mind paying for blokes time etc...

how did you wire yours up if you didn't use the brass sender??

Yikes!

Fair puts my problem in the shade.

Twisted head? burned rings? Big-ends run?

Brass sender & guage is wired up but not in use! Poised behind the battery LOL. Only until somebody finds the suitable sender.

Nice lumi blue - but inop' ya see:(

Should always make sure you have a few turns of PTFE tape on joints like that - much better than attempting to do the same with gasket goo.

Oh Vicky thats real shity news about your car - hope it gets sorted. And hope you'll make it for Sunday.

Geoff.

I'll second that ;)

Vicky, if the oil was only at half way it should be ok - or was this after a top up??? Any knocking sounds or anything?

Shouldn't be too bad I'd have thought ;)

CheerZ,
