Looks v clean !, my fave colour (except for blue):D

The big question is , will you keep it Std or create a monster?:D :D

Good question :)

First thing is to spend some cash getting it all working really sweet then I'll do the brakes (Brembo) alarm with remote central locking as the door looks feel like they are made of paper :(

Then I'll start playing with it and having some proper fun ;)

Blimey, has nelson really gone? Looks like youve bought his car!!

If his was like mine I like his taste in colour :p

Never liked white before, but I think the Z looks good in it :D

Well it cirtainly looks very clean, but if you want to make it go fast you will have to paint it red!!!

Nice one, coming to the Zed meet on the 23rd.

Stop staring at it!!! it will still be there in the morning

Nah, white is lighter therefore better power to weight ratio and faster than heavy red paint.

:p

Nice one mate. Ahhhh, I remember when I bought mine. I couldn't stop admiring it through the window for three months and I looked for every excuse to drive it.

Strange as it seems but I had a dodgy aerial too which was replaced but is acting up now after a year of use. Mind you it was second hand. The CD playerd idn't work...and still doesn't work. I tried looking for a used unit but have for far been unsuccessful for one reason or another.

Welcome to Zed ownership and enjoy.

Van

Thanks, I'm betting the CD player doesn't work in mine either.

Still good excuse to save for a Touch screen DVD set up! :p

Well done mate, looks a cracking z,have fun(and the grin never weres off!):D :D

Van300, Jeff at ZED WORLD has a complete aerial assembly available last time i spoke to him(friday)give him a call,;)

wanna the best white zeds ive seen

You say 'booked in for some oil change', my advise would be do it yourself and start learning about the car.

If you're looking at modding it you really need to know how it all works first, and if you can't change the oil yourself...

Just my opinion, no offence meant.

Looks like a nice one, white is a very good base for a respray. :D

Tim

Congrats Eric it's a beauty.

I totally agree with Eric, learning about the car will save you an absolute fortune.

The oil change is very simple - 14mm socket for the sump nut, chain wrench for the oil filter and you're done.

You can order simple oil filter and sump nut washers from Nissan or you can get them form courtesy motors in the USA (cheaper in the long run).

One of the good thing about being a Z owner is that you are never far from free help.

It still amazes me to this day how people offer to help others when they are having small problems. Most of these people have never met. I have to say despite the keyboard ninja fights this forum has seen, it's one of the friendliest and most homely places to be :).

Why pay mainfella prices when you can buy oil filter and the bits from Mike Feeney (01277 374 201), genuine Nissan bits just much cheaper!!!!

Nice looking motor Eric! I got me an L plate UK auto some months back too, but havent had the pleasure of driving it yet as I have taken it to pieces!!! :D :D

Nick

I pretend to work, they pretend to pay me!

Amen to that! Had my car for 4 months now and the forum has been invaluable. For example Vijay took time out of his weekend to get his hands dirty on my car having never met me before, and I couldn't even get him a case of beer for his trouble! Top fella.

Vivre la forum!

Russ.

Nice one Eric,

Looks like you made a good choice there the car is in lovely condition.:D

Hopefully meet up soon?

Cheers,

F.T.

Thanks for all your advice guys, looks like some DIY knowledge might come in handy as I've already broken the car... :( :o

Loads of steam pouring from under the bonnet when I arrived at work, we traced the intermittant coolant leak to under the right hand side of the engine (manifold?) onto the turbo.

I refilled the water and ran the car but couldn't get it to boil again.

The water temp never went above normal, even when it was pouring coolant out.

Decided to not take a risk so got it transported to a local garage and they'll have a look at it tomorrow.

One of those things with a 9 year old car that's been garaged for the past year I guess

Still should get it back soon, better than ever cos I love this car so much and I've only had it one night :D :(

Ahhh shit, Eric, that's tough:( Sorry to hear that ... it's sooo frustrating when you've just got the thing .... grrrr ...

I know exactly how you feel, when I got my first Z ('93 L UK Auto) ... I rolled up at work, feeling all proud, to find water pissing all over the floor:mad: ... and on bloody day 1 too ...

It went straight into the local Mandella (mistake), diagnosed as needing new water pump ... 5 weeks later (waiting for a gasket from Japan) ... and 900 quid later (after 500 paid by warranty) .. I had her back ... not too mention 4 weeks of Micra courtesy car!

Hope yours is a lot simpler .... good luck!!!:) :)

I remember picking up a car that had been sitting in a garage on blocks for 5 years!

I had planned to drive the car from Maidenhead to Enfield, within the first 10 mins and 5 miles of the journey the oil pressure light had come on and the engine had caught fire!

The moral of this story is... Don't worry, I still have my car 11 years on and wouldn't get rid of it for any money and it's only a little Triumph Spitfire, I'm sure yours will be fine when you get it back, and provide you with days of reliable service. :D

Thanks for that Tim, makes me feel much happier :D

At least when this gets sorted it's a good time for a service and general health check.

I'll get them to replace any perished pipes etc..etc...

I'm sure the car will be much better for it...

I can't believe how sad I felt seeing it being winched up the ramp on the truck, I felt like crying :o

People going past smiling and laughing at it didn't help much :(

Still it was funny as hell when the truck had arrived, the driver was told by the first guy that did the roadside check to "Bring something that will take a very, very low car"

The guy arrived and said "I collected a GTO the other day no probs."

15 minutes, two large wooden blocks under the wheels and lot of very gentle winching later we barely got it up the ramp onto the truck! :p

I'm not lying the front spoiler seemed to clear the ramp by a few mm.

:D

It looked so gorgeous up on the back of the truck.

P.S. I had a Triumph Spitfire years ago. 1.3 twin carb in black with white bucket seats :)

It was slow, wetter and colder inside than out and rattled itself to bits, but it looked and sounded so cool.

I loved it :D

I'm missing it so bad :(

Do NOT start me on Triumphs, I can hear Duff and Aaron moaning already :D

So.... was it a MkIII or IV?

Tim

IV,

It was always stinking of fuel and exhaust fumes, heater was shit, when it rained I had to use a yellow duster to mop up the water pouring over the top of the windscreen through the 1" gap, during the winter I used to have to scrape the inside of the windscreen and show the car an uphill slope and you could get out and walk quicker but it could go round corners like it was on rails :D

Oh and the twin carbs had to be adjusted about once a week :p

Was awesome with the roof down going down country roads during summer :)

So much fun and trouble in one car :)

Only just saw this, sorry to hear about your pride and joy Eric.

Hopefully you'll have it up and running again in no time.

One tip....if it is the water pump! make sure they replace it with a pukka Nissan part.

Cheers,

F.T.

Cheers mate :D

Well these things are all part of the experience aren't they.

If I wanted reliable I'd have bought a Micra :p
