Bored so I thought I'd tell you a little story.....

I had a fun night last night. I found that my drivers headlamp bulb had given up. So I decided to go straight to halfords to get a new one.

Pulled up outside and unscrewed the headlamp cap at the back, uncliped the prong and struggled like a mad man in a stright jacket trying to get it out. What knob designed the holder anyway ???. I went into Halfords and bought a torch set. Went back out and again struggled with the bulb. I'm standing there thinking this is fooking stupid !!!!. I didn't realise that there was a smaller clip hidden below :o

To cut a long story short I went into Halfords and looked up the bulb in their book of knowledge :D. 448 it said, so ok, lets see, hmm only one prong. Then a little voice in my head said "the forum already told you that you can't buy the jap spec bulb, you have to modify it"

So after buying a torch so I could see what I was doing I bought a 448 which didn't fit and took it home where I spent a while soldering a spade connector to the bottom of the bulb and connected it all back up.

Next time someone asks me how long does it take to change a light bulb, I'm gonna smack 'em in the mouth

Excellent. I wish I had know about this earlier.

I did search the previous threads but didn't get this link.

thanks Warren.

I also had to modify the 448 base a little so it fits past the clips. Did I use the right bulb ?

Ooooooohhhhhhh, 448? (sharp intake of breath and shaking of head)

Don't know mate. How about PTU and sensor etc? You up and running?

not done the PTU and temp sensor yet. I had to give the BMW a full service, plugs, oil, oil filter, air filter, fuel filter, pads and discs, and a new pipe from the PAS res.

Only took me 2.5 hours which is quicker than it took me to fit a fooking light bulb in the Z :(.

Will do the PTU and temp sensor along with the oil change tomorrow. Bought some of that 0/15 oil. £32.99 a shot.

I hope it lasts three months LOL
