Be Careful With Warranties

I bought a Peugeot 406 coupe from Great Trade Centre and took an extended warranty. My engine management light came on. The diagnostic showed that a coil had gone and I was advised to replace all of the coils and the spark plugs (platinum tipped) as it is a major job. Remove inlet manifold etc.

The warranty does not cover diagnosis of the fault and only covers what was broken i.e. one coil. The total cost was £320. The warranty company paid £45 for one coil and a hours labour.

Lucky that I had kept my Z, as the Peugeot was off the road for 10 days waiting for diagnosis and parts. I drove about 1200 miles in the Z and had a great time in it. I have been half heartedly trying to sell it to please the wife, but this has made me even less keen to do so, especially with summer around the corner.
