When buying any car - Beware

Hi all. The saga with my ZX continues. I was sold this car with the Speedo totally inaccurate. 2 journeys to the garage and still no joy. Back in on friday where hopefully it will be fixed. The garage in Liskeard is now going to be investigated by Trading Standards and possibly the police as when you buy a car from a garage it must be road legal and if not contravenes some construction and roadworthy act. My home insurance wants to sue them for compensation now aswell. so:

When buying a car, before you sign any docs or hand over money, take the car out for another test drive to see if anything is missing or broken. If so you can reject the car under the sales of goods act. You can also do this if there are major problems within the first week or 100 miles. I wish I had done this initially.

The car itself is brilliant but the whole buying saga has caused me grief. Do not buy a car from this garage!!

We must stop gargaes ripping us off!!

Hmm... Think you might be going over the top there, very common problem (mine does it too), if steering plays up to may be the speed sensor, if not re-solder some joins on the back of the dash, can't remember which off the top of my head, just do a search here or on tt.net

depends if he means inaccurate in the wobbly sense or inaccurate in the 'hmm sir this car seems to have lost 54 thousand miles' sense:(

If the latter throw the legal book at the thieving barstewards.
