It has come to my attention today that ASHFORD, Kent, where I live sells the most expensive fuel in the UK.

The UK has the highest fuel costs in the world.

So, in summation...

... ASHFORD sells the most expensive fuel in the WORLD!

I'm totally shocked by this revalation.

Suicidal don't be Tim,you not hear about Duffer:( :( :(

Anyway spill the beans, how much per litre?

Beans? Erm, basically it looks like the upper idler has collapsed throwing the cambelt through the front cam covers. This happened last night on the way back from a weeks worth of welding. FANTASTIC :(

Oh, bollox man! sorry dude! :( what a fooker!

Any comeback on the person who did the welding? or was it a mate?

No its not the welding at all, that was on the floor pan. Its just one of those things I suppose - about the only bit of the engine that didn't get replaced while it was out. Hopefully its only slipped a few teeth and hasn't done any damage apart from the belt and the gay plastic covers. Oh and the idler. I'm stripping the front off this afternoon anyway. Got a spare belt to throw on it then do a compression test. Will keep you all informed. The question running through my mind at the moment is "Was that flapping sound the belt munching through the cover or was it metal bouncing off metal?" We shall see.........

Shit, not having much luck are you man?

I mis-read your post when I asked about the welding!

Good luck with it. Any luck the flapping sound was when you trapped your skirt in the door as you closed it.

Sorry, not the time to be funny, hope it works out the best possible scenario.

LOL well i now know the cause of the problem! Basically, the stud which the upper idler pulley sits on had sheared, allowing the idler to tip back, throwing the belt out of the front. I have some pics......

And another one......

and finally another one......

The outcome of this is that I now have to pull the top of the engine off again to replace the lower intake manifold. The stud has snapped off inside and there's no way on earth its coming out :( Wonderfull I'm so chuffed. Ah well can fit the 555s while I'm in there I suppose. Biggest shitter is the fact I have to take it apart, to rebuild it again, to do a compression test to possibly have to take it all apart yet again... Can't take much more of this tbh...

CheerZ,

Jeese you've been waiting a year and a half to make your first post and there it is.... :D

Thats a fooker Andy:( , don't get disheartened with the Zed, you know it'll be worth it when it's all fixed.

Good luck mate :)

Okay, have looked at the photos. My only question is why? I wouldn't have thought that there was enough lateral stress to bend. what appears to be, a 10mm stud.

How's it attached at the back Andy? was it a captive head or welded?

Has the tensioner siezed? I'm just trying to get my head round how a rubber belt could exert that much stress.

But I guess, at the end of the day however you analyse it, it sucks big time! Sorry to hear it m8, just think of all the money you are saving on fuel and speeding fines. :D
