OK, picked up my Zed Today :D :D Then had a heart attack a mile down the road when it spluttered to halt ... eek... thankfully it just ran out of petrol before i could get to a station - RAC soon sorted that!!

Anyway stupid questions....

1) how the hell do you lock the doors!! turn key but nothing happens, interior locks work though

2) how do you flip from dip to main beam...

3) car is sweet apart from a squeeking noise when clutch is pressed?? maybe a bearing somewhere? goes when clutch is lifted again.

that's enough for now... opinions so far, 3rd is fun, 2nd is scary, haven't nailed it in first yet (too scared)

Cheers,

James

Central locking should work from the drivers side lock. You may also have remote locking, I think it may have been an optional extra.

H/light dip is on the indicator stalk (forwards/back)

Squeaking noise ??? Clutch release bearing ???

1) No idea - mine locks on the alarm. Usually turn the key to the bonnet to lock and to the boot to unlock.

2) Lever on the left of the steering wheel - pull towards you to flash, push away from you to have continuous beam.

3) Squeaking - what sort of squeaking? Metallic? High Pitch whine?

Neet.

Congrats on getting your car James,it sure looks good!

I imagine you'll get an alarm fitted...I did and it included central locking...worth looking into.

To flip to main beam, turn on headlights on knob then push indicator stick forward for main beam.

Clutch squeaking could just be the pedal.

that was quick!! thanks for the replies

I'll try the headlights tomorrow... not too worried about the locks as I'm getting an alarm fitted soon, just a bit strange not locking the car..

clutch is a really loud squeeking from engine bay, quite a high pitch metallic scraping kinda thing... if it is the cluth release bearing is it much work? probably get Jeff at ZedWorld to sort it when I get my service.

Thanks again

James

well james you finally got it....:D

are you generaly pleased...apart from what seems to be release bearing...bet it needs a good clean after being on ship for 4 weeks....

any way good to see you finally got her.....

well done....:D

You should find that the sueeking clutch goes away once the engine is warm. Mine does this too. It's a little embrassing when you are staionary purring away and then it sound like an elephant has just been kicked in the nuts when you put your clutch down.

Haven't got a clue what it is, but you may also find that when you select reverse and tough the brakes you get a knock sound. This has nothing to do with the clutch soI haven't got a clue why I mentioned it

nah.. it doesn't go away after it's warm, 2hrs of motorway crusing and it was still squeeking away, at least it'll stop my habit of leaving it in gear with the clutch down in traffic LOL

Drivers door not locking!!!

That'll be the little yellow plastic part that Nissan so ideally fitted to the back of the door lock which is sooo brittle it breaks off, thus leaving you to take the door inards off to replace.!

Have had the same problem and replaced with another part from AndyZ, but if people are interested I might consider making a few up from a bit of steel or the like to cure the problem once and for all!! Cant do it for a couple of months though as I wanna get my Z back on the road first!!

Yes, I was trying to remember - it's been nearly 6 months since I was inside my Zed! :D

I very nearly changed it to right, too, before hitting submit... :D
