top tip for anyone thinking of changing suspension

get someone else to do it!!!! :)

firkin nightmare, never mind 3 down 1 to go.

I hate it when in the how 2's when it says things like, Just lever the hub down..... my arse , what that should say is get yourself a 12 foot fence post and a jcb..

oh and how much crap do you have to remove to get the rear shocks out.. ffs

I found that I needed to grab the strut part with both hands while standing on one leg, knee bent, with the other one stood on the lower suspension arm to push it down.

It worked for me! You're right about all the trim you need to remove tho

Hmmm, next thing to fit! Cheers for that guys.

Wait for it.....

Didn't find changing the shocks too bad TBH, first time I'd attempted something like that & managed to do all 4 in about 3hrs.

Definitely easier with 2 people though, instead of levering the hub down, get one person to push it down with their foot while the other fits the shock.

I was just about to say - standing on the rear hub works a treat - certainly did on Warrens when I did it ;) You can only really do that with two people though like Jay says..

Get yourself a small hydraulic "bottle jack" to do the work of the fence post and JCB. You'll also find it useful for lots of other jobs if you're planning to work on the car yourself.

Scoops, in no way is this a wind up or a show off but rear shock absorber change has become one of those pit stop challenge tests for us and yes we have done a fair few (understatement!) but working with a prepared tool layout myself an my brother (Alan) have reduced the full rear set change from 90 minutes ( first set changed ) to 55 minutes with a record ( for us) change yesterday (Saturday) of 46 minutes!!

We recently did a 55 minute change from drive in to drive out for a customer whilst he and his partner watched as he had an important meeting.

I am now sure we can not get this time any lower, unless of course somebody knows different.

Ps. and front ones are even quicker
