i've been getting loads of spam lately about using your cd writer to copy dvd's.. is this possible?

Im just wondering as i would like to err backup some of my dvd's and maybe some of my ps2 games

or do i need to buy a dvd writer?

Yeh you can but it copies it to another format (VCD) which is stored on CD ROM, not DVD Rom, this means you will only be able play it on your computer or perhaps your DVD player supports vcd. The other thing to Remember is the storage capacity of CD Rom is only 600 meg so you may need more than one CD Rom to copy a DVD.:)

so i wont be able to "backup" any ps2 games? as they use dvd discs

Thats right! VCD is far inferior to DVD do to the capacity and therefore compression... PS2 simply uses the DVD as storage - 4.3Gb or whatever DVDs are - CDs are only max 700Mb.

nah you cant backup Xbox or PS2 or even DVD with a CDRW its all crap.

Get a Pioneer 105 and DVDXCOPY and then you can copy rented DVD's perfectly, keeping all special features etc.

You can do the box and PS2 too.

Apparently ;)

LOTR - The Two Towers goes on nicely..... if you don't mind having to change disc THREE times during the film !

Doesn't spoil the viewing pleasure at all
