I may have found my Zed!

The guy who was selling the Zed that I went to see the other day phoned me to ask if I wanted to P/X my VTS for his Zed.

I took my VTS to him tonight, he said he'll accept my VTS (minus personal plate and ICE) and £800 cash.

He'll tax the Z for a year and service it on monday, he'll also fix the two minor probs with the car.

I'm thinking of offering him £500 cash and my car to see what he says.

It's a UK white L-reg, auto, 97,000 miles, with all service history even oil changes and a receipt for a timing chain at 90,000 miles.

MOT till Jan04 and Tax till Feb04.

Leather interior and it looks pretty immaculate.

I'm going to have a look and drive on Tuesday during the day to see what I think.

I reckon £500-£800 cash and my VTS is pretty good.

The ZX is valued at over £7000 on Parkers :D

I will check with him beforehand, but is there anyone on here from Bristol that wouldn't mind meeting up on Tues morning to check the Zed over?

I know plenty about Saxos, but next to nothing about zeds, I really don't want to buy a turkey :D

Oh the above Z is a TT :D

Forgot to mention that ;)

I know I said this before but.. did you do an ECU diag?

If you can - it's well worth getting someone off here to look at it with you, too.. two pairs of eyes are better than one..

Also, I'm always wary of people who want to part ex a Z for anything - the guy I bought mine off did that.. And now I know why.. if you catch my drift!

Eric,

I'm free Tuesday daytime and live about an hour away from Bristol, if there are no other Zedders that can make it then PM me and I'll meet up with you.:)

Cheers,

F.T.

It would be handy to have a second pair of (knowledgable) eyes there...

I'm not sure about doing the ECU test on someones car...

Is it possible to break it??? :o

Thank you for your offer FT, I'll let you know.

If you do come over on Tuesday, I'll sling you some petrol money ....

(Just don't base it on Z fuel consumption! :p )

So £50 is out of the question then........

I'm just hoping my Z will be ready, been without it for nearly a week.So I hope I can give it a good blatt along the M4,god I miss driving it so much!

Cheers,

F.T.

I live about an hour away too, maybe closer and although i feel my knowledge of Z's isnt bad due to doing absolutley millions of jobs on my nackered one, i wouldnt let u trust me help make your mind up!

I'm just to nicer a guy to point the bad things out to the seller, id be like "thats a luvly car you got there mr. "

That's me to a T ;)

"Oh it's fast and got leather! I'll take it!"

heheheheh :p

I'll have to check with the bloke I'm (possibly) buying it off, if he's OK with it we may have a deal :)

Just to put your mind at ease - it's totally impossible to break the car by doing an ECU diagnostic :)

Good, thanks mate :D

Dont wanna put a dampner on it mate, but wasnt there a post some time back about a dodgy white L reg 300 kicking about??? Think Jeff might have started the thread?? Have done a search but cant seem to find it.

Would hate for you to buy a dud bud.

Nick

I pretend to work, they pretend to pay me!

Hasn't anyone got ConZult running on a laptop? That would obviously be the best way to do a full diag.

Oh, if the reciept says timing chain then be very wairy, its a belt not a chain, and it should have been done at 60K!

Saxo to TT Zed :o Suggest you start saving for Traction control!

Tim

I would hate to buy a dud too :(

I know loads about Saxos and feel really confident when looking at potential ones, but the Zed is a totally different beastie.

I don't have much of a clue about them :( (but I'm a fast learner)

As to the timing belt/chain, can't remember exactly what it said on the receipt it may have been belt...All I know is it was done by a Nissan dealer at 90,000 miles and cost £700.

I guessed it was a bit late, but it does mean it was only done 7,000 miles aga so I've got about another 50k before I need to pay for it myself! :D

I think all the receipts are from Nissan...Glad he had the money to go through dealers! ;)

It's been garaged for most of the year so at least it's been kept dry, the only faults I could find are a smell of fuel from the engine (possibly caused by not being used much over the past year and pipes being perished) and an intermittant starting problem.

Both of which he says he'll get sorted before Tuesday.

If it's not I'm not buying the car!

I'll give it the benefit of the doubt but if I'm not happy I'm not going to part with any readies and I'll walk away.

Thinking of taking out an aftermarket warranty that cover wear and tear, Turbos, auto gearboxes etc...

So at least I'll have a warranty and S/H to set my mind at ease a bit.

I'm also going to have to get him to drop the price a little as I'll only be able to get around £500 in cash, not the £800 he wants :(

Still if need be I can chuck in the MP3/WMA headunit in the Saxo to get him to drop the price :(
