Home compression testing?

Compression testing.

Is it difficult?

Have a couple of cars here worth testing (especially the Z),

will this do the job?

Robtor that gauge is ok, the adapter that comes with it is not required for the zed though .

For your information 180psi is the correct compression value with a wide open throttle and warm engine, don`t worry if it is a bit below this but do check for differences between the cylinders..Nissan manual states no more than 14 psi.

Cheers Jeff, i'm fearing the dreaded head gasket, do you like the challenge of fixing these?:)

Ermm........what`s the symptoms which have led you to concider a head gasket problem?

Loss of coolant but with no noticeable leaks.

General dodgy running, hesitating with smokey exhaust but then clears up, running fine, turn it off, and wont start again for a while.

This happened a couple of days ago and ive been using another car since.

It's basically the coolant loss that worries me.

Picked up a pressure gauge today, ill see what it's like tomorrow.

Mmm. you definately have a few issues there but like most faults on a zed they can be caused by all manor of things, maybe we always think of the worst one to try and be prepared for it!

Hope its not too serious, must say I am always an optimist and

most times it`s not serious...good luck
