Rear Spoiler "skin"

Has anybody got any examples online of the look of the car minus the spoiler, with the Zcentre (or other) skin kit over it? Trying to get an idea of what the whole car will look like.

Got the usual problem with winter where the spoiler's paint has just flaked off left right and centre. Thinking about ditching the spoiler and getting the skin done, but not sure about lines of car.. I've got a silver Z32... opinions and examples please!?! :)

Have you looked through "RIDES"? I know there are a few about.

It certainly does change the look of the rear quite considerably!

I like it personally.

Yeah just getting a broken link at the moment, which is why I was just asking if anybody can direct me to them!

There is a pic of one on the Zcentre site isn't there? Have you seen that? I'm sure a few of the guys will post with their own pics.

I too like the looks but I am a bit worried that without any spoiler the lack of downforce may mess up the drive? Any ideas anyone?

Depends what speeds you thinking of doing:rolleyes: I done over 170 with and without rear spoiler, and the car IS MORE STABLE with it fitted;)

Don't think mine will *do* 170mph! :)

Still worth keeping in mind, are there any differences at lower speeds... around the 100-120 mark?

And graham... looks good on the short wheel base.. like it a lot.. colour scheme is gorgeous on that one as well. Dupont job according to the text... wonder how much ££££'s that cost?!?!

You would not notice it;)

Hi,

When you take off the spoiler there are several holes left and a lot of mess, plus an area right underneath which dents in!!! So there is no way of removing it without cosmetic work, which will still cost you. Go to the Z Centre web and he's got a picture of what it looks like.

Originally the n/a version had no rear spoiler - nothing marvellous looking!

Geoff.

here you go ...

this my car, arrives at the docs on Friday so I couldn't tell you how it looks in the flesh, but I'm happy with it :D

How much are you paying Jaffa??

Nice looking Z that..........

Matty.

nice one Jaffe,

I see its got the 99' perspex cover on the rear! Very nice looking motor - good colour as well.

Which part of NE London are you?

You could always take it over to me in WGC for some exchange stuff.

Geoff.

Very nice Jaffa, what exhausts are those may I ask.

And sorry I'm a bit of a 300zx newb but what part is the '99 perspex cover please?

Cheers

Ah well... it was a good plan.. but for those people who noticed my other posting, this is now a "planned change for later" following exit stage left of both my turbo's and a probably knackered engine.. still... one day!

It looks good on the LWB too! I've just had my Zed done at PPS with the round light conversion. Was aiming to get a spoiler put on but am so pleased with the new smooth lines without a spoiler and just the skin i'm leaving as is and going for a different look.

Would post pics if I had a decent digital camera....! Hmmmm..... might pop to Dixons at lunch........

I must admit I've always been interested in this look as I know my n/a j-spec would have looked like this originally.

It's getting quite popular.

A lot of pics on US sites have this clean style. (probably cos of all the j-spec imports around the world now!)

well.. doesn't look too terrible, had some semi-reassuring news from Jeff, but nothing confirmed yet... really do *love* the look without the spoiler.. definitely going to go for it in the future on my silver zed..

Thanks for the nice comments, looking forward to seeing it myself!! As for what exhaust, I dunno... I'll investigate further when it arrives ... and cost, not sure yet, but it will probably be 5k to 5.5k including a 60k service when it arrives and fitting a Cat1 alarm.

Cheers,

James

We're all waiting for pics.............

:D Would have done but went to the Nissan Dealer instead to ask about warning light.... they charge £60 straight away for diagnostic work!!!

They wouldn't even come and look at my car and forced me to book it in. It needs a service anyway so i've booked it in but i'm not impressed!

Perhaps I should buy the camera to cheer myself up..... aHA!!!!

Actually.... will wait and see what's wrong with my Zed I think.... there may be some expenses on the horizon.....

Where abouts in London are you? I know your car is all booked in and don't want to put you off (well, I do I suppose) but I wouldn't take my Z to a main dealer if I could possibly help it.

Foreman to mechanic....."After that Micra, you're on that 300 zx"

opens the bonnet..........

"WTF???????"

..and loads of cash for the pleasure of them not knowing what to do.

I'd definitely Recommend getting Jeff at Zedcentre to do the job for you... just saved me from major wallet attack due to what looked like *very* serious car problems.. turned out I was amazingly lucky!!!!

Nix, what was your problem in the end?

Good to hear it wasn't as serious as it once looked. :)

See Jeff's "warning" message he posted up.. the car in question is mine... turns out my cambelt completely slipped.. but *so* lucky it didn't damage any of the valves etc.

Turns out the turbo on one side wasn't dead, it just wasn't getting compression from the engine, owing to the left bank of the engine not working.. other turbo is bit grimy with oil because the berks who serviced it put too much oil in!

So a many many thousand pound turbo replacement job and engine replacement job has come down to a timing belt change and service.. Have to say Jeff has done a cracking job.. he's managed to identify all this stuff without stripping the engine completely... saved me ££££££
