Boost leak?

On the way to the POD today I was gunning it in third a couple of times and when I got to 5,000rpm it just stopped revving and slowly slowed down. I didn't do it all the time but just a couple of times.

 

When I got there I noticed that one of the turbo pipes on the nearside turbo wasn't on very well at the front of the car. I tightened this up and it hasn't done it again since.

 

Would such an air leak cause this problem?
