I took my Zed out yesterday and all was fine - as usual - until suddenly the speedo stopped working and the PAS went stiff. The HICAS light came on at some point - but went out when I restarted the car after stopping at the local garden centre.

When I restarted it a third time, the auto-box light blinked a few times before going out, so when I got home I ran the auto-box diagnosis check. And sure enough, flash number 2 was the longest, indicating a speed sensor fault.

I saved the tip from JeffTT, which Andrew kindly shared recently - where the sensor can be fixed with epoxy resin, but sadly I could not get under the car to check and mend, if that plastic bit has popped out.

I spoke with Jim and he might have a spare one - and luckily he told me the manual and auto sensors are different. CZP has the auto version on stock - and so does Amayama, so I'll order a brand new one if need be.

Typical though, as it's Beaulieu this coming weekend so fingers crossed I can get it fixed in time!!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Hope you get it sorted in time Richard and great fault finding mate.

Luckily I did Gary....!

Jimmer came to the rescue and posted me a spare speed sensor for an auto (Thank you good sir!!) - and I managed to get the Zed booked in the garage opposite my office last Friday.

Unfortunately the mechanic could not get sufficient access to the plug, to release the cable on the old sensor. But fortunately I had left a print showing how the plastic cap pops out - he read it, then spotted that it had indeed popped out, so he glued the cap back into place. Job done - I have a working speedo again 🤩

I'll return Jim's spare sensor when I take the Zed down to him later this year....
