Hi all , having driven the arse ( literally ) off my Z since buying it about 2 months back , I've gotten use to the power (Jap 90 TT Auto) , now I'm thinking of a few mods.

It already has a 6" single exhaust ( neighbours needed an alarm call anyway!) other than that it seems to be standard except for big split rims.

Seen a few ads and comments about the JWT chip and think this is the next step , as well as induction maybe.

Could anyone who has had this done comment on the difference , also does anyone know the bhp increase?

Will this chip increase the boost as well as changing air and fuel intake thingys?

I've had a quote of about £350 from a well known Z garage , so

is this the wasy to go for next stage performance?

Cheers

Phil

fingers alseep..

£350 seems cheap for an official JWT chip to me, I thought they where around £500 but I may be wrong.

You wont get that much extra power with the chip alone. You really need to up the boost too. Just upping the boost without the chip however will cause a lot of detination.

OK thanks for that ,I'll look into the boost upgrade , I guess a boost controller amongst other things should be on the list.

Email Chris C (on the forum) for a chip, I'm sure he was selling one and it will be far cheaper than the copy you are planning to buy for £350.

As Stuart says you will also need to up the boost for a noticable difference, this can be done with boost jets or a boost controller.

One good thing over boost jets over boost controller is the safty boost still kicks in with boost jets if anything happens.

Give me a call and I'll sort something out dude

hmm.. looking at the list of stuff on your car potentially it's rather tasty!!

Anywho do u have just the one JWT chip? just i seem to remember seeing if forsale b4 or am i just getting confused? If u have another i want i want baby:D

i have a complete ECU with a socketed jwt chip allready fitted i would fit this and set the correct boost pressure (jets). for the first person who gives me £250. which is exactly what it owes me, no profit like some. or swap for zed goodies will only fit on a manual zed though 1989-1993.

Cheers Chris , I'll do that :)

While we are on the subject of Chips.

Most people I speak to in the states swear by Jim Wolf chips upgrades.

Anyone know what these are or what the difference is ?

Quote for £350 from a well known Z garage... well known maybe but is that for the right rreasons??? ;) lol

That is a rip off if its a copy!!! JWT charge around £500 for their chip, which at first, seems high. Remember though that they have developed the code in the chip themselves. This involves costs. Cost of socketing and a copied chip should be no higher than £100 IMO. People who try to copy stuff for profit are breaking copyright law.... Wonder what JWT would say..... :D
