M3 versus the ZED

Hi folks, well as most of you know i sold the remains of my zed and bought myself an E36 M3. Having now driven it for a month i thought i would report back and say what i think of it.

DRIVE AND COMFORT:well the drive and comfort is definitely better than the zed, the solid build quality oozes from the M3. the steering is precise and at 155 you cant ake your hands off the steering and its as steady as you like. i remember my zed being a bit shakey after 140ish, but that maybe my zed and not representative of others. round corners this thing really sticks, but like the zed, in the wet the back end fishtails out quite easily. The seats were better in the zed as they were elcetric and the targa roofs were certainly a bonus and better than a sunroof.

PERFORMANCE: no competition really, the zed wins hands down, especially when running 1bar boost :D. however the M3 delivers smooth solid power throughout the rev range and can be quite spurisingly quick, but still not like the zed.

STYLE: M3 is quality, the birds like it when you say i have BMW, when i used to mention the zed, they said "a what?" zed looks far more impressive to me, lovely sleek lines and a real fcuk off front to it. the M3 understated elegance i would say.

RELIABILITY: well the BMW has not caused me any problems yet, and after owning the zed for half as much time i was looking at a head gasket job.

am i happy, yeh i am, but still miss the zed a bit.

cheers

steve

So stylewise, the Beemer is best to talk about, and the zed is best to show? Hee hee :D

Sounds great mate, hope it gives you loads of trouble free miles

Hello :)

Thanks for reporting back, one question is when you say the Z has performance over the Bimmer how so and at what speeds/situations? Off the line? I doubt it, rolling from 50 maybe?

Is it like a lot of things, maybe the M3 makes the speed more effortless or less scary :D and so seems slower?

I don't wanna come up against an M3, try it on because you said better performance and then be embarrased :D

I have never lost to an M3 off the lights, and ive raced to speeds from standing start of up to 140mph

ive never trounced one but ive always been a good distance ahead, even once when i ****ed up change to 3rd gear.

they are wicked machines though, id love to own one one day,

overall power of the zed i think must be better, off the lights and mid range. i agree that the M3 might diguise the speed as it delivers soo smoothly, it certainly gets to 155 with no problem at all. The turbo boost of the zed is a great buzz for sure and may make it feel quicker.

cheers
