I dropped my Zed off at the local garage for an MOT, plus the annual oil and filter change..... Then I got the call after half an hour to say it would fail as the rear brake pads had worn down, almost to the metal - damn, I should have checked that 😞

But luckily I had a spare set of Mintex pads in my garage, so I wandered down to drop them off. Luckily I got home before the hail storm hit LOL!!

I am now pleased to report my Zed is ready for 2025 - with a fresh MOT, a sump full of nice golden Castrol Edge 5w40 and some new rear brake pads  🙂

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Best bet is to give Jimmer at Powerzed a call.....

Jim will have a recommended welder - and can assist with any other parts that may be required. Plus he'll be on hand to advise with any specialist advice pertaining to these cars.

I know he's 100 miles from London, but there's a good reason most of us trust Jim with our Zeds, no matter where we are 😉

Ah, thanks. I have rung a few places round here, but they are Not Keen, has to be said. Will give him a call tomorrow.

Well, Jimmer did turn out to be an excellent bloke, had a chat to him - but as for the welding its in quite a state and he would rather it went elsewhere. So currently have left it on my sisters driveway at the top end of Essex until a London garage can do it for me at the end of March.

Am concerned they will fail the MOT on the airbag though - the light flashes for about the first hour after you turn the key, and whilst I was in there I herd them talking to another customer about his MOT failing due to airbag warning light. Has anyone fixed the airbag on their Z ? At 30 years old I do wonder if it still works.

On the plus side, actually driving it properly again for the first time in ten months was brilliant :-) Didnt take a lot of tiem actually on the road for me to realise "Of course this is worth spending thousands of pounds on fixing! Despite everyone telling me otherwise. But they haven't driven it."

And just for completion, I brought the car back to London yesterday, dropped it off at Highfield Garage on the North Circular, and they rang me today to say the welding was all complete, and far less than estimated (under a grand!), so I am a happy bunny. A few more bits of MOT work to do, but then I am back on the road in good time for the nice weather :-)
