Not sure if it's the engine no. or chassis no. you need. However the chassis no. is on the main bulkhead, the engine no. is a pig to find, the location is shown in the manual (rear of the engine) but in order to read it you'll need to clean off the dirt using WD40 and fine abrasive paper, the no. is stamped on a flat surface on the engine and in order to clean it you need to shove your hand between the engine and bulkhead while holding said abrasive paper and cleaning stamped surface,15 minutes later, scraped knuckles, many swearies no. will be readable.

thanks for that peter I have found easier ways of checking though like sweatbelt dates etc

i still love it !

We all hope you had a HPI check on it!!!!!

[looked at one last year with no chassis no hpi'd it and it was on register!!!!!]

cheers

Dave

Fairlight - just a word of caution: seatbelts are NOT a reliable source. I have seen K-reg cars with seatbelts indicating '90 production date and even worse I have seen a car with a pair of non-matching seatbelt dates (i.e., left and right belts showed different production dates)! So, best place to look would be on the bulkhead - which contrary to what has been written before is not that difficult to read - well, it wasn't in my case.
