I really fancy trying the Zed out on the strip at Santa Pod while everythings working ;) .

Who's been before? They say you need a helmet if you'll top 100mph, suppose mine'll do just under this but do they just take your word for it?? I've been to a couple but never driven. What's a good estimate for my TT auto, decatted, quad mongoose exhausts? Something to aim for.

Was anyone at that Avon Park RWYB day when the Nitrous Mini destroyed the Lamborgini Countash? It's things like that which make 'em great!

A mate's taking his 2001 Celica 140, he knows I'll cane his ass (!) but I wanna see by how much :D !

The website calender shows RWYB days most weekends from now til April.

Cheers

Hi Pete,

I was at Avon Park apparently the day after that Mini whipped the Countach. He was there again and the fat geezer tried to put him up against a De tomasso Panthera but it didn't happen.

That Mini was pretty quick though.

Always fancied having a go down the strip but never actually done it. Was at Donnigton Park yesterday at a track day that looked exciting too.

Don't think I'd ever dare to take the zed to a track day just because of the sheer cost of new brakes, tyres, and anything that goes bang while you're out!

Pete

mmmmmmmmmmm, went a few times to Pod and Avon Raceway, was temted to run the previous zed,but saw a couple of motors go pop on the start line or halfway down the run,its just a risk i suppose like anything else, but i wont forget the look on he guys face whos EVO went bang after 3ft!(looked well cut up later watching it dissaper on a low loader truck)

Nice one , I think it is on - let me know if you do and I'll be there too. I read you have to get there real early to get a race pass, about 8ish.

Will do mate! Hey what about a forum where people can post 1/4mile times? Or am I just getting overexcited  :D ?

Yep there can be a big que for the race pass but this time of year you will be ok getting there at 9 to 9.30,just have a couple easy runs in mornin, wait till surface gets a bit less moist in afternoon, should get plenty of runs in afternoon if you want them,if its wetish day just have runs to get your start right, dont bother to cain it!,best John got out of my zed was 12.8 seconds quarter mile, and 4.3 seconds 0-60mph,and that was realy pushing

 ;)

Bet that site is gutting for any one.

But the thing it unless you are red lining it, if its blown then it was gonna blow anyway sooner or later, sitting on the start line at 5000rpm waiting for the green light shouldnt so any harm, unless it over heats but you should be looking out for that. Also driving up tp 6500rpm should not do you engine any harm, because as soon as you reach that high you change gear. Most of the time is spent round the 4000 to 5500 rpm.

I do pull offs like that on a regular basis down the East Lancs. I just love it when a BMW driver is right up your arse and when the lights come pull into the next lane thinking he can accelerate me. Heheheh. Sooooo funny, cos I can just imagine his face when he is a dot in my rear view mirror.

If the Pro Fuel Dragster boys are testing then take some ear plugs(fecking awsome):D

i done 6 runs up at crail in scotland and my best time was 15.772:o

Marc,running JWT ECU, 555 Injectors & Sports 500 Turbos.

Larger intercoolers. Stillen/K & N air induction unit.

4 speed automatic. Mocal 13 row supplementary oil cooler.

Full Stillen lightened underdrive pulley set.

De cat,Mongoose zorst;) But them times were at 1.1bar boost:eek:

Stuart, strange thing about the EVO,it was very new,and it threw a rod through the sump, oil all over track,i have a feelimg the motor was a bit too new, tight as they say, maybe that was the reason:(

Hmmm, worse thing you can do to a new engine is that.

My girlfriend got a new MINI and they said dont go over 3000rpm for the 1st 1000miles then for xxxx miles cant remember what, dont do more than 50% throttle.

Stuart

Speaking of new Mini's, several spat their gearboxes out last time I was at Pod (couple of w/ends ago)..

So don't let her take it to Pod, Stuart! :)

Hehehe. Yes they where all recalled for that.

The new MINI is fastest selling car ever. It is also the most recalled car ever too.

Stuart

My best time at the pod was 13.545@105.87 mph. That was with HKS zorst& filter and Apexi avcr &safc running1.1 bar (on that run it peaked at 1.25 bar.

Having said that , my first time at the pod I ran a 14.9 with the same setup and the day I ran the 13.5 I also did a 17:eek:

Hopefully with my new setup I will be running in the low 12's this year;)

BTW when did Johns car do a 12.8? when I saw him run at the pod it was doing 13.1's and that was after he'd gotten his JWT turbos.

oh yeah I forgot....

on the subject of helmets - unless your car is pulling crazy terminal speeds they dont really enforce it

Hi AdamR,according to Johns figures that i have, times as follows,

Trax 2002,0-60mph= 4.3 seconds

0-100MPH= 12.8 seconds(santa pod)

1.25 miles =speed reached 156.3mph

Standing quarter mile=13.2 seconds

all done in 2002,but not sure which times go with which engine as it was replaced around june/july time after a dissaster that i witnessed on a rolling road sesion, plus the replacement engine was from a manual not an auto,i think this changed the way the z ran slightly, but cant remember as to how, plus later in year he fitted the HKS ALC to the auto box which made some more difference

;)
