I'm with these too, but have a 1024k link, however ~I just got a letter from them asking to restrict my downloads to 1 gig a day.

B****ks to that. I pay to surf and download stuff, and they stated that it was unlimited surfing/downloading , so that's what I pay for.

Mark, Believe it or not, I've been with BTOpenworld(Gasp!) for over a year and a half now, and I've had about 1-1 1/2 hours of downtime. Not only that, but when they dropped their new subscription monthly charge by a tenner, they automatically dropped my charge!!

They also don't set a limit on updloads or downloads. However, if you want to host a website, they don't do fixed IP on the home tarriff:mad:

Hope this helps.

I do not have a fixed IP address but dyndns.org sorted this problem out for me for free. OK my url has to end dyndns.org or homeip.org but this does allow me to host a URL rather than host a changing IP address.

I also have a netgear router/hub/firewall which detects any change in IP address and then contacts dyndns.org automatically and updated my details - cool or what, (or does someone know different!)

Speed on my Freeserve account was dreadful after a while and the customer service was non existent.

As soon as it's available at my new place, I'll be signing up with BT. I've found their service in the past to be excellent. And, ultimately, they're the ones providing the hardware so you're cutting out the middle man.

Snap, except use DeeEnEs to automatically update dyndns.org.

Very cool :).
