Thanks for the advice of the calipers. They were on a helix so turning them did do the trick.

 

Funny thing is, at one point it got a bit scary cus I had bent a rachet extension, snapped a screw driver in half and broke a 4" G-Clamp in half to I assure you, the information was very well received.
