February 8, 200323 yr My alternator is putting out over 16v resulting in a hot battery and lots of hydrogen. I guess the voltage regulator has gone - which means a new alternator. I have looked but I cannot remember where on the web were the instructions for alternator removal - including pictures of how to do it. I would be grateful for some URL help Thanks
February 20, 200323 yr If your working under the car with trolly jack and stands its a bit awkward but possible, I did it last week. tools required are a 17mm socket with a medium reach extension and a 17mm spanner for the through bolt. A 12mm spanner for the adjustment nut. its located ubnder the engine in the middle under the pulleys and its a bit fiddly to get the spanner on the back of the through bolt you have to remove the adjusting bolt that is on the bracket connected to the alternator and remove the through bolt its cramped under there so if you can get it on a ramp it will be easier, if not be prepared for some scraped knuckles and tired arms...be sure to use a nylock nut on the through bolt because mine was hanging off hense the reason I was under there this weekend.
