i have come across a nissan europe r-drive parts catalog on cd,

which i am told is the proper dealers parts list but it will not open.

does anybody know what type of security there is to open it.

download these two files into c:\windows http://300zx-twinturbo.com/temp/Nsfastky.ini http://300zx-twinturbo.com/temp/NSFASTW.INI

Copy the entire CD to c:\nissan

Run the Setup in c:\Nissan\fastprg\Win\Fast\setup.exe

If you have more than one CDROM you may have to change the path for the FAST CD but it works no problem.

Power steering just went away

The steering is active, so it’s uses input from the speed sensor. If the speedometer fails to work it will stop the power assist steering. You car being an import will likely have a speed converter behind the dash, loose connection here on this circuit will be the cause. You tapping probably remade the connection. Also the speed sensor on the gearbox can pop out the end, be loose, simply slowly down and speeding back up it can kick back to life.

Power steering just went away

I own a 1991 300zx 2+2 NA with only 91000. While driving the speedometer dropped to zero and the power steering stopped working. I pulled a Marty Mcfly and tapped on the top on the steering column and everything started working again. This vehicle is mainly stored and just occasionally driven not many miles on some weekends. I was able to repeat this same process on my cruises when it happened again, however on one drive I was unable to get the vehicle to regain the power steering and speedometer to read. I am no expert, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Nearly ready to put the engine back in 😀
Had to order a set of oil pipes from ConceptZ as the stock ones are too tight in terms of lining up with the sump.
So everything is done and just await a delivery next week from Fedex again.

Also fitted all the wiring for the injectors and coil packs, they are all on 3 sub looms each with a break away plug so easier routing it the way i want now.

Fun while it lasted

Taking on any older car is always a risk, but doing the bare minimum and hoping for the best makes that risk even bigger. Sadly hasn't worked out for you mate.
Pop the car up for sale on here and see how you go, not worth breaking over a possible head gasket unless it has major corrosion and other issues.
